The COA difference between UCLA and OOS UIUC was actually about $20-25K/year.
The company I used to work recruits developer/SE from top 10 CS/CE schools only. I asked how about UCLA. The hiring manager said NO. What a snob!!
I appreciated her/his (@legojedi) response, people could benefit from her/his explaination.
The cost difference (between UIUC and UCB) I remembered is messed up, the difference should be around $30K including travel. My older son did have the option among uiuc, ucla, cal and a top private school. we calculated the 4 year cost and potential returns, Cal was the best option for us (we had no financial aid, and scholarship was couple thousands).
Anyway, what you learned and what you can offer is more important than where you’re graduated, you need to pass interview before you have oppertunity to prove your capability.
My S24 got accepted for Neuroscience but has been looking into Economics and Data Science. These dont seem to be impacted majors…how easy is it to switch into those?
Credit awarded by UCLA as a result of AP exams is subject to change without notice. Course descriptions for each AP subject are reviewed by UCLA on a yearly basis.
AP exams, IB exams and college courses taken before or after enrolling at UCLA may be duplicative. In these cases, we will award credit for only one.
AP units may be applied toward graduation. They won’t count against the allowable unit maximum for the Bachelor’s degree.
AP credit does not satisfy General Education requirements.
Yes, it is the new major this year. I think they just recently changed the name to “statistics and DS” on their website, not sure the current statistics syllabus will change later, adding more CS and math classes. I hope so.
