Can you some accepted student profiles from last year in Engineering, data science, and Computer science majors?

Can you share their stats?

You can search last years discussion thread using the magnifying glass on the upper right of the thread, type in a key word and select search in this topic.

These Students Were Accepted RD at UCLA Class of 2028 - Colleges and Universities A-Z / University of California - Los Angeles - College Confidential Forums

Went back and looked at the scholarship astrology of 2023. The discussion/thought at the time was those who received the email to apply to the Alumni Scholarship had increased to a 50% potential acceptance chance vs. <10%. This is different than the email for prospective student scholarship or the recruitment scholarship that it seems goes out to everyone. Again, this is all speculations but fun while we wait.

Could you please elaborate? Was the Alumni scholarship in a separate email than the recruitment scholarship? Also, what do you mean by chancing increasing to 50%? Do you mean that only 50% of the students who received Alumni scholarship got admitted later? Please provide more details. Thank you!

Back in the day (and by that I mean 2018 when my kids applied), the alumni scholarship invite was sent to a filtered subset of top applicants based on some unknown but apparently quantitative criteria (presumably GPA/SAT). In recent years that’s no longer been the case, so there’s no real point in speculating about a deeper meaning to the email.

We received the email this week, but also received it Feb 14.

Did your D get invited, Feb 18, to the UCLA Alumni Scholars’ Virtual Prospective Scholars Day?

Yes - this was the case for my child in 2019/2020 (alumni scholarship invite) who is now a UCLA grad.

is anyone having trouble logging in? My son’s info is not working to login. No problems with logins last week, wondering if the site is being worked on

Working well

Yes, the alumni scholarship is a different email and a different scholarship. Not everyone receives it. The speculation was receiving the email was a good sign and someone quantified a 50% acceptance rate using statistic calcs way above my pay grade. There were arguments that everyone is eligible for this scholarship, which is true, but the email seems to only be sent to higher probability students. The scholarship is required to be open to everyone and anyone can search out this scholarship on the website and apply to it.

To repeat, this used to be the case pre-pandemic. It has not been true since that time (I expect the change aligned with when the UCs went test blind).
