UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

Since other UCs have started releasing their waitlists, is it possibly we will see ucla releasing a round off the waitlist in the days?

The only UC that has admitted a few students from the waitlist is UCI.

No one here knows when UCLA will be admitting off the waitlist, which is up to admissions. I am sure most students are waiting for their FA package before committing so it will take a while.

Most of admitted students should have received their financial aid offers from UC, I believe that majority of them received almost nothing.

Even for in state students, not many families can afford $42K per year, particularly for those families with multiple college students. Inflation is still high and we might have recession, I think we’re already in the recession.

With new SAI and coming recession, I’m expecting more admitted students will decline the UC offers…

Be patient, you will hear from UCLA within 2 or 3 weeks.

Does anyone have any information on roommates and housing if you get off the UCLA waitlist?
I’ve read that they take people off well into the summer. Do kids get good housing and find roommates?
Thanks

You are guaranteed housing if admitted off the waitlist. I cannot give you information about finding roommates but you can change or request your roommates up until early August.

Some T20s have started releasing small batches from their waitlist. I also know people who have heard back from Wakeforest and William and Mary. Hopefully this is a good sign for UCLA.

I believe the Waitlist FAQs has housing guaranteed until May 15, later than that they will work with you to find housing

Could UCLA admit some students off the waitlist today along with the transfer decisions?

My application status is currently unavailable… Maybe some WL admits later tonight?

The portal is down since they are loading Transfer decisions. Seriously doubt they will release Freshman waitlist admits at the same time.

Yep, no waitlist decision yet… sigh, i just want closure

You need to imagine yourself in a college where you already got accepted. Dwelling on UCLA will only make you sad and it’s not healthy.

UCLA started releasing the waitlist on the 28th last year, so there’s a chance it could be tommorow.

But the SIR Deadline was May 1 last year while this year it is May 15th.

How come UCI was able to start pulling from the waitlist so early, and has in previous years, when their SIR deadline is May 15 as well?

I know, but UCLA has been my dream school for so long, I cant seem to imagine myself anywhere else

UCI overall had an enrollment yield of 22% last year while UCLA had a 50% yield. So based just on the previous year’s yield along with historical yield data, the campuses can gauge where they should be in terms of SIR numbers at this point.

UCI has more leeway than UCLA and none of the schools want to over enroll so UCLA is probably being more cautious with their numbers.

That makes sense! In the FAQs for waitlists on the portal, it states that “if you are admitted prior to May 15 and apply on time: you will have 15 days from the date on your admit letter to…” Does this mean there is a possibility it could come before then?

There is always the possibility they will admit some students off the waitlist before May 15th based on their enrollment numbers. Last year, there was never any large waves but small trickles of admits all through end of July so it can be a long process.

The portal was updated. It now says in red, “** Note: Not all decisions have been made for students on the waitlist. ** Decisions will be made on a rolling basis and will be posted here on our decision site. Please continue to check back. An email will also be sent to notify you once a decision has been made.” Does this mean they have started admitting off the waitlist?
