UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

so chances don’t look great of them accepting nearly as many off the waitlist as last year. ):

also: I put my LOCI in the waitlist doc, but should I also email it to the UCLA admissions office?

Again, only admissions will know how many students will be admitted off the waitlist and there is no point in speculating.

UCLA like all the UC’s do not consider an applicant’s level of interest in the application or waitlist review. The waitlist statement should be about any new accomplishments and what you can contribute to UCLA and the campus community.

Do not email admissions since you have submitted what is required to remain on the waitlist.

Ok that makes sense. Is there any data regarding the OOS yield for fall 2022 or years prior. Was is around 33% for out state.

Yield rates for UCLA OOS admits:

2023: 32.5% round up to 33%
2022: 33% originally typed 25%
2021: 29%
2020: 25%
2019: 25%

So 33% for 2023 has been the highest yield for the last 5 years.

UCLA already took OOS yield into consideration.

If you are straight As student who took lots of APs and had solid ECs and PIQ, and your UC fully weighted GPA is higher than 4.7, your odds for being waitlisted or rejected is low… Maybe something was missing from your initial application. You should have the expert to look through your application and write more targeted ¨essay¨ to boost your waitlist chance, but kinda too late now…

I think the odds of being waitlisted or rejected with those stats also depends on the stats of the other kids at his/her high school, and how many admission spots ucla has allocated to that school. We had several kids at our local high school with similar stats that were waitlisted at ucla and I believe it’s because ucla historically offers admission to only 6 or 7 kids. So it’s entirely possible to have very high stats and awesome EC and PIQ and be waitlisted or rejected. Good luck to all on the waitlists!

It´s hard to believe that UCLA has limited spot for a particular high school if they have more highly qualified students.

The Avg. Joe student at a public high school in Fremont may be admitted to UCLA, UCB or top 20 school. Isn´t it the reason why class rank is eliminated?

20 people got in from my school so i’m not sure about that number and like around at least 10 people including me for waitlisted.

Are u in state for California? lol one kid at mine got in and she’s going to Harvard. I think five of us got waitlisted. I’m OOS, but every other year like 5 have gotten in and multiple have gone.

also: how many out of the 20 admitted are planning to attend?

I’m not creating the admit number. The number of students admitted from each high school to each UC is public knowledge available to everyone.

where do u access this public knowlege

Yes, i’m in state specifically in LA so that could be it.

I don’t have a final number but from past years I’m thinking 18/20. Almost 30 people got into Berkeley here (i didn’t apply) and some of those people are the same ones who got into UCLA so I think my high school just a hotspot for UCs.

This is only for CA HS’s.

Edited: My mistake, some OOS HS’s may be listed.

You can select “Non CA Domestic High School” on the left, and then your state from the “filter county/state/country” drop down on the second row (far right) to see applications/admits/enrollment by OOS high school. It defaults to Universitywide so make sure you select Los Angeles if you are interested in just UCLA stats

Is it a comprehensive list of OOS HS’s since I know several OOS students stated their HS was not listed. I also know that if only a small number apply, the HS would not be listed.

That makes sense.
