Hi Everyone! I am very new to this discussion and have been binge-reading all day! First of all, thank you to everyone who consistently posts on this forum, it seems like every single question I’ve ever had about the waitlist has been answered!! However, there is one question I have been meaning to ask. I am an INTL student from Canada and UCLA, like many people here, is my dream school! I was just wondering what the chances are for INTL students, is it the same as OOS students? I know a lot of INTL and OOS students have gotten off the waitlist but does anyone think there will be more waves? There seems to be a lot of IS students on the waitlist, which I expect as its a public STATE-funded school in CALIFORNIA, but I can’t help but wonder if I should still have some hope as an INTL or treat it like a rejection and move on. I just want to say that being a part of this group where there is so much positivity feels awesome so thank you so much for that! Also, I apologize for the long post lol!!
Since the UC waitlist data does not break out admits by residency, I will post some general statistical information on overall admit and enrollment rates for International students and CA in-state students for 2023 which should include waitlisted admits and enrollees.
For 2023, UCLA admitted 1309 International students from an applicant pool of 21,999 which is a 6% initial admit rate. There is no way to know how many International students were waitlisted and how many were admitted and enrolled.
Overall enrollment of International students was 453 which means a yield rate of 35%. Overall enrolled Freshman International student population was 7% for 2023.
Compare this to the in-state where there was 90,785 applicants and 8587 admits for a 9% admit rate. 5210 enrolled making the instate yield of 61% and 79% of the student population. UCLA needs to get to a 82% enrolled in-state population target by 2025 so both OOS and International numbers will continue to drop slightly to meet this goal.
International waitlist chances will all depend upon how many admitted International waitlisted students accept their admission and if there will be any spots left. That is the big ??? For all the waitlisted students still patiently waiting for a decision.
I was trying to put the GIF directly in the e-mail, cut couldn’t figure it out. Operator error I’m sure.
Oops. Meant that for @BearsHunter
Any news today? My D24’s friend just got off UCSD waitlist hours ago.
Congrats to them! UCLA usually releases in the mornings.
Did your D24’s friend got off the UCSD waitlist today ? I did not see anyone posting for UCSD today.
Yes, today. should be college of engineering.
Thank you.
In state?
no, OOS
Question: If a student is admitted through an appeal, is the student required to accept the offer of admission?
No you are not required to accept the offer from an appeal.
Hey! Also quick question from me. Since I’m still on the waitlist, am I allowed to send an email regarding graduation awards I received or no? I’m not sure what the policy is on that or if it would be of benefit. Thanks!
UCLA’s deadline for submission on grade and award updates was April 15 using the opt in Waitlist form. They will not accept any other documentation beyond what was submitted by the deadline.
My daughter was accepted to L&S at 9:20 this morning for Pre Public Affairs. We are OOS. I hope everyone on this list is offered a spot, but I am confident that if you were waitlisted at UCLA you will be successful wherever you go.
Congratulations!!! Anyone get admitted in state today?
Does anyone know how housing works for students admitted off the waitlist?
Housing is guaranteed for waitlisted students, but you are guaranteed your choice housing but the Housing office will work with you.
No, the description is similar so they are not going to get that picky. What major were you admitted?
