UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

Someone posted here, she/he successfully appealed the decision and got into CogScience weeks ago. The chance is very slim, I hope you already committed to another school and signed up housing, orientation, submitted transcripts… Prepare for the worst even though I love to witness more miracles.

Hey y’all! Are there any updates regarding the waitlist? I just made an account to ensure the thread was working but there still hasn’t been a post in three days.

doesn’t look like it. i think waves are starting to slow down + with sir deadlines there prob won’t be much motion for a few more days

i received this email from ucla…they said: You are receiving this email because you may have been notified of a discrepancy between your self-reported tax filing status and the information retrieved from the IRS on your

2024-2025 FAFSA/CA Dream Act Application. This notification may have been sent in error and we are actively working to resolve the issue. Please rest assured that this request will be waived/deleted if we determine that you correctly reported your tax filing status information.

If there is in fact a discrepancy between your self-reported filing status and the information received from the IRS on your application, you will receive a follow up email at a later date with guidance on the steps you will need to take to correct this error.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation with this matter.

Warmest

UCLA Financial Aid Office probably made an error, so this email got sent to everyone (accepted, waitlisted, and even rejected students).

If there actually was an error, they would let you know in a follow-up email.

It shouldn’t indicate any waitlist decisions.

My daughter got it too. My heart stopped for a moment lol.

My son got this email too! I thought it may be a good sign, but if everyone received it, then must be a mistake.

Our hearts stopped for a moment too! Ugh. I asked when the waitlist will close and she said “Late August”

Did you contact the Financial aid office? Did they indicate it was a mistake that was sent to everyone?

I contacted Admissions. Financial office was closed. Will call tomorrow morning.

Scary if true. Maybe all got accepted but no financial relief such as need based. Pay in full?

My D24 IS waitlisted got the same letter too.

Hey everyone! Earlier today, I received an email that said the FA office had requested additional documents to determine my aid, but the documents they were requesting did not make sense. Turns out it was an error, which was confirmed when I called the FA office. Therefore, a follow-up email was sent, as displayed in @Xuanyu_Zhang1’s post.

For context, my friend who was admitted in March but declined his offer to UCLA also received the follow-up email. So it seems as though everyone got it.

bro when i tell you my heart actually dropped into the floor when I read “UCLA Financial Aid” in my emails just to find out this email didn’t mean jack :sob: actually thought prayers got answered for a sec

I’m going to date myself, but watching Monday Night Football as a kid, the announcer Don Meredith would say “Turn out the lights, the party’s over!” whenever the game got out of hand. That seems apropos right about now.

Admits from here on out will be very minimal and simply to replace summer melt imho. Hate to be a downer, but gotta be honest…

Maybe don’t turn the lights out quite yet? My daughter was just accepted off the waitlist yesterday.

In-state, OOS or International? For what major? Does she plan to commit to UCLA?

OOS, Microbiology major. Trying to decide between Michigan and UCLA now. A good problem to have!
