I truly believe there are waitlists for out-of-state/international and in-state. At the end of the day I would assume that if the out-of-state/international waitlists are in-fact exhausted there would be a possibility for in-state, because something is better than nothing. That being said, because of potential student visa issues, I believe UCSD has announced that classes will be available on-line for at least the fall semester. UCSD really wants/needs those non-resident tuitions.
Asked the admissions office if there will be more waves. Received this email:
UC San Diego does not know at this time whether we will go further into the waitlist. All students will be notified by no later than mid-summer.
It is not true, It is fake news. Taiwan has been a close relationship with the US, especially during this COVID-19 period. If you said China is not letting their students study abroad. It may be true. But not the case in Taiwan.
@TOUCSD lol i dont know anything about this but i was told this information by my international student friend who goes to highschool in Taiwan. Call it what you want.
Man, the email he received from UCSD is really worrying me. This is my number one, and I am probably not going to receive admission.
@user_8089110 don’t fret! They just mean after May 1 when people officially SIR they’ll know how many more students to accept!
That idea makes sense, it always has. But what about the people who got off the waitlist a couple days ago? How did UCSD determine who was going to commit or not? That’s what frightens me. I watch as all my peers get into the college of their choice such as Cal or UCLA while I can barely get off the wait list for UCSD. Makes me feel hopeless, but I am still clinging onto hope that I will get accepted.
We’re all in the same boat here. It’s possible that the majors of those admitted simply had more openings at this time, we’ll have to see going forwards. I was waitlisted for a highly impacted major and UCSD is my top college, so I’m trying to keep hoping for the best.
@user_8089110 I totally get it, but UCSD doesn’t know if they’ll accept their offer. They might just be trying to increase the chances of more SIR’s. If it makes you feel any better, in 2019 they have THREE waves of waitlist acceptances! I feel the say way. Scared, hopeless, and anxious. But we got this! I’m manifesting it for the both of us! <3
Thanks man, that actually did make me feel way better. I hope UCSD has three or more waves of waitlist acceptances this year as well. Thanks. When will the next wave release?
probably after May 1 which sucks cuz my SIR for my other school is 600$
Daughter admitted off W/L 2 days ago (4/28) into her major - Molecular and Cell Biology, and into Muir College. Good luck to all.
I was waitlisted for Molecular and Cell Biology as well but haven’t heard back yet.
Hey everyone! I just declined my offer of admission to UCSD, so hopefully this will open up a spot for someone. Good luck to you all!
I just got a wrong number call from UCSD (didn’t apply lol) but I’m also a HS Senior and I know a lot of people are getting off waitlists today. If your name is Emma, good luck!!!
Wait - they called?? Are you OOS?
Yep. East coast.
@djs2020 wait so did they just tell you that “Emma” got off the waitlist or that there’s going to be waitlist acceptances today??
Oh man I wish I was Emma right now. But maybe that’s a sign for a new wave today!
@homosapiens it’s so weird that they would release a wave on May 1st If anything they might be only accepting out of state right now
