UCSD fall 2020 transfer WAITLIST

Same situation here, committed to UCD but waiting to hear from UCSD…
lets goooo
@MeLikes_Queso

If it’s true that Cal and UCLA are releasing their load of waitlists first, then I hope that the human bio majors at SD waitlisted at UCLA get in so I can take their place :]]]

I hope so too :frowning: can we just pray it comes out tomorrow and that we get in lol

Does anyone know if we will have any more waves? Currently super stressed. I’ve been following this and UCLA’s waitlist and UCLA seems to be having waves like every two days.

I saw on last year’s thread that the last person that confirmed to have gotten admitted posted about it on June 18th.
The rest of the people were still posting all the way to July 20th that admissions had not sent them anything. It is not clear if anyone else got admitted. So I am not sure if it’s worth waiting until July because most waited that long only to hear from UCSD that they had already filled all the seats.
Therefore, I want to keep a positive mindset that they’ll admit some more people this month.

I just looked through UCLA’s waitlist thread and I’m amazed at how many people got taken off! They’re just rolling out their decisions every few days I’m so jealous! I’m VERY surprised only a few people have posted that they got off the SD waitlist and the UCLA thread has what feels like 1,000x the amount in this thread. I was so happy to get waitlisted, I thought forsure I’d get off but now I’m just annoyed and over it haha I’m hoping for the best but expecting the worst :frowning:

Last year I got waitlisted for UCSD with a GPA of 3.9, all grades A, except a B for ESL which was not even needed to be transferred.
This year waitlisted again; still, all A, except one B+, and one B for an ESL class which is not necessarily needed to be transferred. This year’s GPA, 3.86. passed all my fall courses with A, so new GPA 3.9.
Working full-time, independent students, local San Diego student, Cali Community College. 2 associate degrees. major and admissions requirements completed, IGETC completed
Major: CS
Accepted by: UCSB, UCR, UCM, UCSC, SFSU.
Already accepted UCSC offer.
Waiting for UCSD. I love UC Santa Cruz; it is a nice campus close to Silicon Valley with lots of opportunities for CS major students. However, since I already have a good-paying job and some friends in SD, I want to stay here. That is the only reason waiting for UCSD, otherwise, I would not even wait for a university that does not appreciate my accomplishments and put me in the waitlist.
If you guys have an offer from other campuses, accept it because, based o my last year’s experience, the chance to get off the waitlist is not too high.
Good Luck

When did you hear back from UCSD last year about the waitlist status.

Almost mid of July. They send me an email and told me that they had met their admissions goals and they do not need more students.

Do you remember how many waves there was? Its been days since the first wave and I am not really sure how big of a wave that was.

I am not sure, but I think 2 times. Only a few people got off though. By now they already know who accepted or declined their offers so, after the first wave, they give people 5 days to accept their offers. Then, another smaller wave for spots that still are available, which is leftover from the first wave. And then, I do not think there is much of a chance to get offers. maybe just a few available offers in case students from the second wave decline their offers.
In fact if you do not get off the waitlist first time, the chance is even smaller for the second time.

do you guys think that the first wave was the one on the 28th? it seems odd that they would have a wave prior to the june 1st sir deadline and i was hoping that there would be a large wave yet to come

I personally do not think that the first wave did not come yet. Looking at last years post, A lot of people started to get off the waitlist June 7 of last year. I am a little surprised that no one here has heard back. Im really hoping that we would hear back tonight since the orientation starts on the 15th.

Yeah, Hopefully, we hear back today. It’s crazy that it’s been so long and we haven’t heard back anything. By now they should know how many people they can accept because its way past June 1st and been more than 5 days since the first wave. I wonder if they are waiting for the UCs to make the announcement for the update on fall classes. Also, I don’t know if the international studuents have any effect on our enrollment but since most people cannot come here rn bc of travel restrictions, the enrolment rate might have had an effect. There is not much information given rn and we can’t really base stuff from last year’s bc this year is so different. All we have to do is sit and wait. Good luck to each and every one!

@sstudent2020 You are right! Literally going insane because of this.

For some reason, I feel like there isn’t going to be anymore waves coming out (Not to be rude). I’m just losing hope.

yeah its very odd that nothing has been released since june 1, maybe they’ve already met their enrollment goals :frowning: i think if we don’t hear back by the end of next week there won’t be much hope left

The thing is the wave before June 1 (May 28th wave) felt like it was a pretty small wave. I didn’t even consider that the first wave because it was before June 1st but now with there being no news it’s making me think twice. Some schools like UCLA is on its 4th wave. Also, someone mentioned that the orientation is June 15th so it’s very weird that there hasn’t been any news. But until the rejection letter comes there is always hope left. Things are very unpredictable during these times with everything going on.

I know UCSD is the only UC really eager to get students (mainly freshman) on campus in the fall with their whole return to learn thing going on. I saw their classes for fall and a lot of them are hybrid, but majority online. The ones that are hybrid are much smaller with only 50 students being allowed in a class at a time. With that being said, I think they’re trying to see what their plan is for fall (which UCs say they’ll post fall class decisions mid June) so that way they don’t have an overwhelming amount of students on campus when their class schedules aren’t well prepared for that with the new size accommodations. That plus housing, I think they want to focus their admissions on freshman and them having their classes on campus this fall, and then once fall decisions are made, then they’ll really start meeting admission goals.

@lalalisa That honestly would make the most logical sense to as why UCSD has not reached its first big wave yet. Our best bet is to wait through the month of June in hopes we hear back. After that, I think it would be time to focus on where we SIR’d.
