We got an email saying OOS DD is guaranteed 15K merit award freshman year and renewable 2nd year if 3.3 min GPA is maintained. email included a link to many other scholarships available to continuing students.
VAHHHH-Isn’t that page for students who are enrolled at UIUC? What award did your Daughter get if I may ask. I have nothing gain since my daughter is not engineering and in state.
“Selected incoming first-year engineering students for Fall 2020 will be named GFX (Grainger First-Year Experience) Scholars. GFX has partnered with a variety of Undergraduate Programs including WIE to provide first-year experience courses to communities of students interested in a year-long program relating to one of their passions.”
We were offered this, which rules out VA Tech and UVA for us. So far I like everything I have learned about UIUC. (I did not know much of anything a few months ago)
I agree with you VAHHHH. We had this discussion on the Minnesota thread when OOS people got $15,000 like my daughter and I had to point out it’s still more than instate Minnesota and reciprocity states. Although in defense of us Illinoisans we pay more than other nearby to attend our state school.
I think what was stated was there was no OOS Freshman scholarships which is wrong. I believe though there is no scholarships for OOS if you are not an Engineering major.
Did you get invited to apply for Honors Business College? If so, have you done the interview yet? My brother was accepted 2 years ago but chose another school. His interview was in person and now apparently it is an online interview. Curious if anyone who has already done the interview is willing to comment on this different format?
well I’m super late but I got in OOS to CS (in Grainger) EA!
1570 SAT
4.0 UW, 4.76W
12 AP classes, 5 Dual-Enrollment. (AP < Dual Enrollment at my school)
No CS Extracurriculars, although my other ECs are god-tier (presented research at UN headquarters, etc.)
TRASH essays. I viewed UIUC as a safety (because i was dumb and didn’t know how competitive CS was) and so i just kinds threw some words together. I can firmly say that they’re quite weak.
“If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive notification no later than April 1.”
This is the reply I received when I asked them when I would be notified if I have won any schol… So, I don’t think they’d notify you if you have not won a schol.
