UIUC Class of 2024 Discussion

My son applied Regular Decision. No scholarship - at least so far. Financial Aid package lists just the federal loans he is eligible for.

S20 was accepted EA into Gies from OOS. He did not receive any scholarships or merit aid. He did from other state flagships.

Anybody got accepted after being waitlisted for EA for mechanical engineering? Does anyone know when the decisions for waitlisted students might come out?

As far I know, waitlisted students will not hear back until after the May 1st deadline is over. Colleges need to see how many of the accepted students will actually enroll and how many spaces become available.

@lakmak were you explicitly waitlisted for ME, or were you accepted to your second choice?

Hi! I know there are very few, but has any International student received any scholarship? Aaaaaaaaaaand have people been notified about their admission into the University Honors(Chancellor’s scholars) program???

My son received a packet about Chancellor’s Scholar last April/May. BUT you can find out earlier by checking your financial aid. At some point it will be listed along with other aid (loans, etc).

I am an international student, so I do not have a finaid portal

Ok. Then I believe the packet came in April. Out of the 125 selected last year only one student was international. The vast majority were from Illinois.

Waitlisted for ME

So I got accepted into CS COE, with amazing stats but virtually no knowledge of CS. How badly is next year going to go?

First of all how? xD

Be prepared, start taking courses rn, you’re in lockdown anyway. CS is one of the most competetive majors, so congrats, good luck!

Is it possible to get a good amount of funding from UIUC as an international student?

Has anyone gotten off waitlist at UIUC this year? Is there a separate thread for waitlisted students?

I need help on choosing college between UIUC, Loyola and UIC for Biology major.
I live in Chicago, cost is the same for all three with scholarships. I want to go on Pre-Med track, so I need a college where I can easily get good GPA and can prepare for MCAT. Each college has it’s own advantages. Loyola has hospitals and great internship opportunities, UIUC as well. UIC is great in research opportunities but not sure if honors college is worth it. Am I missing anything here? Any input will be appreciated.

Loyola Honors
UIUC
UIC Honors College

I mean, usually not (you most likely won’t get any financial aid). You could get some scholarships, but that would depend on your stats. Although if you haven’t gotten anything already there is a very low likelihood that you’ll get anything else.

If they’re all the same cost, I would personally go for UIUC, but then again, I’m an engineering major. You’d probably want to do research on your specific major. Plus you want to choose the school that you would like the best. ie. would you like to stay closer to home (would rule out UIUC), stuff like that.

hey, does anyone know if you can dorm with someone in an LLC (but I don’t want to join)? (I’m a GFX scholar, so I think doing both would be a bit of an overload)

hey everyone! so a UIUC housing rep answered my question – you can, but you still have to pay for it (but you don’t have to “join” it)

Still waiting on scholarships for CS.
