Hi, I did not apply for EA for CS Major, and wanted to apply for regular decision for CS . My school is telling me that CS and Engineering should have been submitted by Nov 1 under early action. Is that the case or do I still have a chance to apply ?

@Kamaljeet EA decisions are out today so obvious EA application deadline is passed. Check out UIUC application dates https://admissions.illinois.edu/apply/freshman/dates

P.S. I have been nothing but surprised this year about UIUC early action admissions because it has been bewildering among kids in my school. First of all, so many kids with amazing grades and 36 ACT have gotten denied/deferred from comp sci and many have also gotten denied from gies, too.
For example, one boy in my school got deferred for Stanford comp sci but rejected from UIUC comp sci, I know 5 people with 34-36 act that were denied/deferred from comp sci and 2 people that were accepted. One boy got denied from statistics+comp sci and then deferred from his second choice, Gies. Overall, I think this year has been extremely competitive and congratulations to anyone who made the cut and good luck to anyone who was deferred!

Thanks, I am an international student studying in an international school. My school said CS and Engineering should be sent by Nov 1. But the RD deadline is Jan 5 as per the link you shared, just wanted to know if anyone is looking at applying for CS in the RD round.

Many people here are posting their SAT subject tests but UIUC does not consider them during the application process.

I was also wondering the same . Stated policy of not accepting SAT subject tests and LoRs
My son got deferred, had applied Mech under EA . He is an Intl candidate .
SAT 1520 -Maths 790, pretty good acads, relatively light on extra currics .
Congrats to all of you who got admissions , well done ! For the rest, I am sure that there is a good college in store for you . Be patient and enjoy this ride for a few weeks more .

I am trying to understand the deferral process. Is it better to be deferred or get admitted to alternate major as undeclared. I am confused if I should go in undeclared and switch major or go into a college that offered the major I wanted.

@collegeSA - if you are admitted into alternate major (whatever it maybe), you are still waitlisted for the 1st choice; as per this following FAQ on UIUC:

====
https://www.admissions.illinois.edu/FAQ/admitted-freshman#Eight

"You were strongly considered for your first choice; however, we simply didn’t have room for all qualified applicants. You’re still considered waitlisted for your first choice. If space becomes available in this major later on, we’ll let you know even if you’ve declined your offer.

@collegeSA Not sure which undeclared you are referring to, there is engineering undeclared and there is Division of General Studies (DGS, kinda no major). There is no such thing “alternate major as undeclared”, because it is not a major. Happy to address based on your EA status, if you can elaborate.

Admitted
Major: Dance (audition required as well as academic admission)
GPA: 3.96 UW/4.38 W
ACT: 32
Homeschooled
4 dual-enrollment classes
Strong and numerous ECs
OOS

Its Undeclared in DGS.

@collegeSA DGS undeclared is toughest route to get into highly sought engineering major (CS/ME/BioE). You may have provided details earlier, but can you provide a little summary to better address your questions/concerns.

I applied to LAS Econometrics major but I got into Undeclared DGS. I did not put that as second choice but I was admitted as Undeclared in DGS. How hard would it be to get into the Econometrics major if I join as Undeclared in DGS.

@collegeSA you may want to review following links

From following link

it doesn’t look that difficult for Economics requirements.
