So today, through my comparative gov’t class, I’m actually interested in looking at the UK elections. And watching the polling results. So for those who care,

who do you want to win/think will win?

who do you want to win/think will win?

Also, did you know Yar’Adua died? I want to see what Jonathan does now that there’s no threat of his return…

Anyway, I’m hoping the Liberal Democrats win personally.

If I were a citizen of the UK, I’d vote Lib Dem!

Labour!

Even though I know they wont win. ![]()
I’m betting on a hung parliament.

Watching now on BBC

Yep I heard about him dying as well. Lib dem are not winning sadly. I believe a hung parliament is the likely outcome. Conservative showing well right now.

But go Labour!

Yeah I knew they wouldn’t win, but hey you never know.

My grandparents’ constituency went liberal democrat. My great-grandmother’s old constituency stayed conservative (not surprising, considering it was the home of Margaret Thatcher).

Hung Parliament… First one in a while too, and it creates a massive crapstorm much like a brokered convention does in the US. David Cameron has two options either he tries to form a minority government which are theoretically weak (especially since David Cameron who is not the ballsiest of politicians would be PM) or try to form a coalition government by offering other parties various seats in the government (namely the cabinet).

I personally think Dave will (and should) try to form a Coalition Government by striking a deal with the LibDems… However if he tries a minority government it is inevitably fail and Cameron will be in the doghouse (he already is a bit for not outright winning when he should have done). This would make Boris Johnson the head of the Conservatives, which to be honest I would love to see for it’s sheer entertainment value!

Wow, I’ve heard some nightmarish stories about Boris Johnson.

And his two appearances on Top Gear didn’t inspire much confidence either, lol.

^ Nightmarish stories TCBH?

My uncle works for the Underground, and apparently most of Johnson’s proposals for TfL are/were both fiscally irresponsible and would actually slow the system down. Of course with my being in the city only a month a year and public transport being the only part of the city’s ordinary operation that affects me, my perspective is somewhat skewed, lol.

^ He banned booze on the tube and intially proposed privatization on three lines but after cost-benefit was calculated and it proved irresponsible he pulled the plug on it (as of very recently though)

I’m a UK politics nub: What’s the difference between the Labour Party and Liberal Democrats?

[Liberal Democrats - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Liberal Democrats - Wikipedia)

It’s kind of the equivalent of the Green Party.

Hmmm… will Brown try to do anything with his reform suggestion?

And Cameron imo lacks the kahunas to be a truly effective PM.

Still wish a LibDem-Labour Coalition could occur.

Ooh, Lib Dem is getting trounced
… but at least labour is gaining on the conservatives.

On a side note, Boris Johnson somehow reminds me of Donald Trump. Not sure why.

lol assholism? powerful, etc…

I’m laughing at Gordon Brown and his guarantee of his “Constitutional Right as PM”

^^ Labour is AWFUL… Gordon Browns approval rating at the end was LOWER than Bush’s…

I think it’s actually the hair. They both have unnatural hairdos. Besides, Johnson’s “assholism” isn’t up to par with Trump’s. I don’t necessarily like Gordon Brown, but I still agree more with Labour’s leftist policies. And Lib Dem is my choice party.

Gordon Brown was never really likable iirc.
