UMass Amherst class of 2024 Early Action Results

What is the slate keyword? Here’s the end of the link for my UD portal: /portal/mybluehenhome?cmd=admit

Can anyone who has gotten in let us know what to change out ‘mybluehenhome’ with? This might work, but I don’t know.

@blktag This is for UMass Amherst. Not the university of Delaware.

Thank you @travelfamily Good luck to your daughter as well!

Yes, I’m aware. Both portals use slate and I am wondering if we can get our decisions that way. It worked for my friend at a different slate school. That’s all. @RidleyBCHS

I checked my daughters blue hen portal (she was accepted before Thanksgiving) and the string is super long with all kinds of characters. Not sure it’s worth trying to decode it.

Is this board updating?

It doesn’t have to do with the date the application was submitted. Last year my son applied EA right before the deadline and was accepted in the first wave- around 12/17.

@3incollegemom there was news about changes for this year. The following was excerpted from a blog admissions . blog about umass amherst While it doesn’t specifically say first come first served, When the UMass visited my kid’s school, the UMass representative and HS counselor, indicated that result releases would in part be impacted based on when the application was submitted, encouraging kids to apply as soon as possible

UMass changes EA decision options
POSTED ON OCTOBER 8, 2019 BY CRAIG MEISTER

University of Massachusetts Amherst has announced a significant change in what types of responses applicants could receive when applying Early Action (EA).

Previously, UMass EA applicants were either admitted, denied, or given the option of being moved to the regular decision applicant pool. Beginning this year, EA applicants will be given the opportunity to opt onto UMass’ waitlist instead of being moved into the regular decision pool. In making the announcement to high school counselors, UMass shared the following:

“We believe this will give the applicant a better understanding of where they stand earlier in the process. Because you have previously supported your school’s students throughout their UMass Amherst application process, we write to thank you and to let you know how much we appreciate your help. Our holistic review process depends on input from high school counselors, faculty, and staff such as yourself.

UMass is also encouraging students to include all required materials when they submit their applications. As always, UMass will review every application that is submitted, but priority will be given to applications that are complete by the deadline. This is especially important because of the compressed timeframe for making decisions. For example, if Early Action applicants submit materials after November 5, UMass will still evaluate their application, but only after UMass has evaluated the applications that were complete when the application was submitted by November 5. The same is true for UMass’ January 15 Regular Decision deadline. Information on materials that are required with the UMass application is available on our Admissions web site.

@miscparentname That’s basically what my daughter was told after her issue with them not receiving her SAT scores. We resent them as quickly as possible, but she was told that applications that were complete by the deadline would be reviewed first, so I’m expecting we will have a bit of a wait. I don’t really understand the whole waitlist vs. deferral thing.

Thanks so much for posting this info. I had no idea it changed this year. My older son is a freshman there and my younger son applied EA this year. Good luck to everyone- hope we hear soon!

Did anyone else go to the Fall open house? They told us they would release EA decisions by 12/15. I hope they keep to that promise.

Last year they started coming out on 12/10 at 7pm

I was looking at last years thread and it was OOS first (after the earlier International decisions)

Anyone get a decision today?

Not yet. I am an out of state student and haven’t heard anything. I’m sure the first batch will come out shortly, it’s only a matter of time for those who applied.

I will be leaving today until Saturday so hopefully I hear back by then.

I’m not going to lie—waiting is way more stressful subsequent to getting the recent EA email, lol. I think I’m more stressed than DS. He has yet to identify a first choice, but he loved UMass when we visited, and his eyes lit up when he got the recent email. Of all 11 schools he applied to, it’s in the top 3 from our parent perspective. The major he applied for also qualified for the New England exchange, so if he gets in but doesn’t get any merit, we at least won’t pay full sticker price.

Univ of Illinois does it right. They sent out an email in November stating that decisions would be posted December 13th. A definite date and no games.
This week of stuff is silly since no one (domestically) has posted a notice…

My hope is … after years of UMass handling this badly by a slow dribble of results… they made changes, and later this week will release a significantly larger pool of results then they used to

Do you know what date the will release?
