UNC Chapel Hill 2024 Transfer Admissions Official Thread

Hey guys! Anyone reading this, it isn’t all about whether your stats are perfect. Yes GPA is important and EC too but don’t feel like you have to be the best of the best. Trust me, I have called UNC admissions over 15 times, and each time they have told me it is about how well-rounded, and passionate you are about what you want to do/ the things that you are doing are what is most important to them. Some applied with a 4.0 GPA and still did not get in and some applied with a 3.2 and did get in. It is all about how passionate your application comes across and they do consider every detail. Hope this comment allows you to calm down because I have been stressed out too based on this thread:) best of luck!

Thank you for this! I have heard so many people say my updated 3.8 GPA isn’t good. I made a 3.6 my first semester and a 4.0 this time so yea. I think what most colleges want from transfers is experience. Things they have done that will help them in the future (and add to the college’s success resume). Being driven and proving that is crucial in my opinion but I could also just be saying that because of the sheer amount of ECs, part time jobs, and internships I have finished. Like essays also have to reflect being driven and any roadblocks that have stopped that success.
We will see how it goes!

Does anyone know about how many they accept each year? I asked a counselor at one put point but forget what they said.

This website is pretty useful. Scroll to page 14 for transfer info

Last year they admitted 1535 out of 3645. Out of those, 903 enrolled.

Dang, l thought it was closer to 50%.

In the past it has been a little closer to 50%, but someone mentioned the C-STEP students being part of that percentage. So, I’m not exactly sure how many students this cycle will have assured admission. It’s hard to tell

Same, been stressing out about decisions every day. My biggest fear is seeing the Connect Carolina update email and end up getting waitlisted again lol

Me too I’ve been losing sleep over it  I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous for anything in my life

Literally!! My head is all over the place rn, especially since if I don’t get in this time, I won’t reapply… like not getting in is not a life or death situation but it is life changing!

How many other schools did you guys apply to?

I applied to one other, got in but it’s out-of-state… FAFSA is a mess so I don’t even have a financial award letter

Ikr I’m very disappointed with how the FAFSA has been this year. I got a letter in the mail from NC State saying I need additional documentation, but it’s the same info I put on FAFSA like my filing status, income info, and parents income info. It’s called verification or something like that. So I’m hoping my FAFSA was correct for all the other schools I applied to

It’s absolutely frustrating, I think corrections are starting to be made available soon though…

Just unc…

At this point I’m just gonna pretend that I’m rejected, coping is hard and the anxiety is immense

is a waitlist basically a denial?

Here’s the link for waitlist stats. Chances are very slim and the trend is less every year
