My daughter was just denied from UNC (not deferred). It was a reach school (4.6GPA, tons of 4 mostly 5 on AP scores, 1450 SAT and 2 sport Varsity 4 year athlete, tons of EC). Does anyone know if there is an appeal process? This is her top choice.

They came out Friday (Jan 24th). Lots of rejections out here in California for all the top performing students at my D’s HS.

What are y’all’s stats for those who applied regular decision and whether or not yall are in state.

I have a 4.367 weighted GPA and a 3.8 unweighted. I’m ranked 25/176 students. I’ve had 2 part time jobs for all four years of high school! I’m in the National Honors Society, Secretary of Interact Club (recycle every Thursday, clean our local park and high school once a month, increase biodiversity, started animal shelter drive where we collected animal necessities), Parliamentarian of HOSA, started and led blood drive where we gathered over 80 kids to donated during school, reads books to elderly at retirement centers, qualified for state, in a club called Global Lens where we volunteer at food bank at least twice a month, empathized with individuals there and made them feel welcome, volunteered every week to help immigrants from Mexico, Ukraine, Venezuela learn English. Volunteer every week to help students who are dual enrolled program and learn mathematics in Spanish and English. Varsity Cross Country for 2 years. UNC- Pardee Hospital lead MSO (Medical/Surgical/Oncology) Volunteer. 6 APs, 12 dual enrollment (47ish college credit hours), 11 honors classes, AP Scholar, A/B honor roll, NC Scholar Athelte. Unique essay topic about truth or dare and unique supplemental about Miss Universe Charity organization and how culturally competent they are and it aligns with my public health major!

Does UNC require mid-year report? My daughter’s school sent it at the end of January. CommonApp shows ā€˜downloaded’ status for UNC.

On the applicant portal, the application checklist does not show ā€˜mid-year report received’. Is this normal?

mine also doesnt show my mid year report

Bro don’t say that! Gotta stay positive :sob:. I mean this so seriously and genuinely but I honestly think my stats are mid…:sob:

Does anyone know historical release dates for UNC Chapel Hill the past few years? Just wondering if 3/31 is a firm date or a ā€œbyā€ date. It’s unclear from the UNC website.

I think it means ā€œbyā€ and I predict decisions next week. EA was a week earlier than they had published if that is any indication. They need to get the offers out and responses back by May 1, so I’m sure they want to get things going.

Here’s the historical RD release dates for recent years:
2024: Friday, March 22nd, 3:30-4pm EST
2023: Friday, March 24, 4:15pm EST
2022: Tuesday, March 25, 4:30-5pm EST
2021: Friday, March 26, 3:435pm EST

Based on this pretty consistent 4-year trend of releasing RD results between 3:30-5pm EST on the 4th Friday of March, I think the most likely date for decisions this year is Friday, March 28th. That tracks with their messaging about ā€œlate March,ā€ as well.

There’s definitely an argument for this Friday, March 21st, but that’s only the 3rd Friday and I’m trying to be patient and over-estimate! However, the 21st is only a day earlier than last year and the calendar is similar to last year’s, in that this year March started on Saturday the 1st and last year it started on Friday the 1st last year. If we follow that pattern, then Friday, March 21st makes sense.

That’s what I’m saying!!! I honestly do believe it’s coming out tommrow although again, I could be wrong.

is it today? my brother is applying this year and hes like: ā€œiknow im not getting inā€ already

Its out

waitlisted EA but just got accepted RN??? I didn’t think that was possible
