agree. Exceptions are always there.
They donāt look at 9th grade? I have never heard that
for gpa calculation. NC GPA will be recalculated as per their standards. it is not like apples to apples. That is what I came to know. But in order to apply for california one must also have taken art subjects. Otherwise application is not accepted. again they consider it to ensure application has taken required subjects. But for gpa calcualtions for admission, the appear to ignore it. In other words if application didnāt do well in 9th grade but did excellent in 10 and 11th they have a good chance. Florida is also different.
This is the first Iām hearing of this - Iām under the impression they look at the entire High School Course Rigor and Grades, and weight ātrendsā of improvement in either GPA or Rigor or both. But Iāve never heard that UNC CH flat out ignores Freshman year grades or coursework. This is our third child applying, and I have one currently there.
this is not for UNC. we were refering to California
Is Friday the in-state EA decision release? Previous communications say before December 20, havenāt seen anything more specific yet.
The only communications so far (that Iāve seen) say by December 20th. In the past, itās been released before the published day, but with the new process this year, there isnāt a precedent. Maybe Saturday. Maybe today. Who knows. Itās unclear to me whether they will send an announcement ahead of time of exactly when decisions will come outā¦not sure if theyāve done that in the past or not. Regardless, my kid is very glad they moved in-state decisions up to December.
They usually update their instagram account just before decisions come out. Nothing yet.
Thereās Welcome 2030 IG message!
Nice are the decisionās available?
IDK, havenāt heard from my kid yet. My best guess is it will be out by tonight.
Iām not seeing anything on their accounts.
Same
Not seeing one. And Carolina usually posts that message during the Regular Decision round, not the Early Action release. Would love to see it released today
Where are you seeing this?
This post was on an unaffiliated uncchapelhill2030 IG account, not an official UNC Chapel Hill.
soon tho.
Iām with you 100%. My creative daughter, incredible thinker, empathetic human, incredibly hard working, excellent character, who reads actual books for fun and for decompression, who plays piano for herself and not for a recital, who has taken 11 AP classes and has a 4.6 GPA, who works 15 hours / week and plays a varsity sport for the sheer fun of playing, who drives younger siblings around, would be an incredible asset to literally any university in the world, does not have a competitive score and we opted to not spend 30+ hours and $1K+ to get her there. Itās an equity issue, a character issue, and a āwhich version of applicant do I want my daughter to embraceā issue. We chose ādig in and live your life with passion and integrity.ā
Universities look at wholistic picture. I am sure your child over all going to look great. what was her score?
1350
Sheās gotten into a handful of schools with plenty of merit $$, direct admits to business schools, and honors colleges but really wanting next level and south for college, for a number of reasons. She understands (as do we) that itās a reach given that she didnāt have a high score to submit AND the sheer number of incredible kids just like her, with her same goals too. At the end of the day, itās up to her to make the most of her 4 years, not the college.
Excited for our kids! Big steps ahead!
