UNC Chapel Hill Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

To be honest 1350 is competetive enough with all the other credentials and clearly resulted in better outcome for her. Not sure what wrong with reporting this score.

also you said she already received admission to school. Are you talking about previous year?

decisions are dropping today for EA in state!!! good luck everyone

In a perfect world, you would likely be correct. We don’t live in a perfect world. It is inarguable that grade inflation is a problem across the country. Everyone insists it doesn’t happen at their school, but it is happening at most schools. Open book tests, multiple allowed attempts on tests and important assignments and more. Teachers are just shoveling out As to keep parents and students off their backs.

Also include DE programs during summer where not everyone have time for it. There is no level playing field in a way.

irony is that at school during parent teacher meeting and other media outlets they all suggest GPA is not all that important. Bam come college applications GPA plays a big role in it.

Is this confirmed?

Aren’t suppose to come on 20th? I did not see any think yet.

I don’t know. I haven’t seen anything either. Nothing on social media yet. They didn’t give a firm date, but tomorrow seems more likely. I guess we hang tight and see - would be awesome if it comes out today :crossed_fingers: NC State sent something to our counselor that some(not all) EA decisions would be released tomorrow, which if it’s in keeping with past tradition, they release on the same day.

uva and usc were already out. UVA on 12th itself.

I think USC only released the Marshall School of Business, not all EA decisions (at least that’s what I read).

UVA only released ED, which was about 5100 applicants and they had no supplements. I’m guessing UNC will have a lot more EA in-state applications. BUT they did have an Oct 15th deadline, so they had 2 more weeks than UVA.

This is not true. I spoke to many people in engineering and arts.

UNC Admissions just posted a Class of 2030 video on IG. Decision is in our portal (EA, in-state). Good luck everyone!

Gotcha. I must have read some inaccurate info. Thanks for clarifying!

UNC just released the EA result. My S26 (in-stated) got in!

Admit, in-state. Older sibling there now. A little bummed because he didn’t get the pre-admit business or Honors Carolina which would have swayed him heavily. Would be fun to have two kiddos at the same school. Congrats to all who got in! And good luck to those still waiting.

Congratulations  Our kiddo also accepted! Are you sure Honors Carolina would have been mentioned in this letter, since the release came so much earlier than usual?

When he clicks on ā€œspecial opportunitiesā€. It says, we’re sorry we can’t offer you that. Maybe none of that has been done yet. I’m not totally sure. :woman_shrugging:t2: congrats to your kiddo!!

Oh, we didn’t click on anything. Our kid let us look from a distance  Will log in to check.

Update: we have the same language you saw. Would be interested to know if anyone sees something different.
