What is the difference of being deferred and wait listed ? And if we are at the top then why not just be accepted? And do transfer students ( college) have a chance or only us seniors?
Deferred means they will completely re-evaluate your application during the regular decision, itās basically a second chance. The waitlist means you fit all the qualifications for admission but they just didnāt have space for you at the moment. If space opens waitlist people will be let in.
@brixxpixxa You canāt reapply after being rejected in the same year. If youāre really set on UNCSA, go to a different state school and try to transfer in. But you canāt reapply in the same year to any school after getting rejected.
Does anyone know how exactly the video essay works? Do we have to structure a certain way? Thanks!
@destroyed This is the first year theyāre doing it, so thereās no real examples to follow. All of my friends and I just acted like it was an interview and someone had asked us the question. I donāt think they want some fancy structured thing, itās meant to be a āfirst-meetingā type of thing.
Fellow UNCSA Filmmaking applicant here. Iām super nervous, I would love to get into this school. Does anyone know when we might hear back for regular decision??
@pinacoletta In past years itās been released as rolling, so thereās no telling how itāll change based on the new admissions process without interviews. Iām guessing by late March. UNCSA also doesnāt have ED, EA, or RD, just priority deadlines. UNCSA is a weird one, this year more than most.

I was deferred so Iām very nervous because the reevaluation of my application will be soon, Iāve added some new material to my portfolio so I hope it pushes me over the edge. I really want to go to UNCSA I love the campus.
Just to make sure, was January 6 the last day to turn in everything? Or was that the day you had to already have had everything turned in?
January 6th at 11:59 PM everything was due, well actually I think you are still able to upload to your portfolio even after the January 6th date but I may be mistaken.

Would anyone happen to be/know of current UNCSA Filmmaking students who applied regular decision? Maybe they could share around what time they were accepted previously to give a range for current applicants.
@Asenys This is the first year they have RD. In past years, its been rolling with applicants getting decisions within around 8 weeks of applying. Decisions should come out by April 1st, if not before it.
The website states that decisions will be released on February 21.
