Univ Delaware: What R U Thinking?

Hi all,
Glad to hear that we’re not the only ones moving on from this. Just visited West Chester on Saturday and loved it! Son is looking forward and WE are relieved about the MUCH CHEAPER price tag! Good luck to all of the kids - wherever they end up!

p.s. a friend’s son attended Wesley in Delaware - (very poor SAT scores), a little-known college in Dover. Nothing exceptional about it. BUT in one of his small classes in senior year he got recognized for his “late-emerging” abilities and got offered free ride for his Masters. He’s still deciding over his choices. Just another example showing it’s what you make of it - not what you think it’s going to make of you. :))))

Doris, having just come off Facebook, I was looking to “like” your post. Best of luck to your son! You have a great outlook!

Congrats all! Nice message Doris…I’ll mis you guys! Yah, son has a bunch of buddies who applied to VERY similar lists of schools (is this unusual. my daughter didn’t seem to care, but the male of the species seem to travel in packs?) It’s one of the reasons he applied to so many-also to keep his options open for his “highly suggestible, blowin with the wind opinions.”

Anyway, the two who got accepted to UDel are taking it off their table. Don’t know if it’s a show of sympathy from the kids or their very supportive folks. Can pretty much say son doesn’t give a darn and I certainly made cocktail party conversation of glitchgate …but with no malice (Ok, maybe an animated grimace or two)

ANyway, that’s two more accepted kids NOT considering UD, so hopefully that will free up some space for the UD glitch waitlisters! :)

“Yah, son has a bunch of buddies who applied to VERY similar lists of schools”

It’s funny Imani it seems like in our neck of New England there are a block of schools that EVERYONE applies to. The list will vary a bit year to year but the core group of schools all seem to stay the same. That’s one of the reasons I like CC so much, has helped me locate and read about schools which I might never have thought about. Good luck to your son. Syracuse is a GREAT school!

Hey, before u guys all leave the UD threads. R any of the glitch kids who are wait listed, taking their wait list spot? U will have 2 update us with how this all pans out!

Imaini-Ur kid got was wait listed right? Did he take a spot on the list or not (I thought he had) Also-did u have any clients this year accepted to Delaware? U gonna encourage kids applying in the future cuz of what happened? HONESTLY??? Were these cocktail parties before or after the “BITE ME post”

Where I’m from, it seems every year there r “hot” schools. There r always schools which every year get a ton of applications-but some years an under-the-radar school gets, like 12 applications. ALso, if ur kid is into Big state schools, or larger east coast schools or Big football schools, chances r his friends will most likely NOT be super small, highly competive, LAC kind of kids. Just sayin, I don’t think its all that unusual for any school.

likelyhood, I was glitched and then waitlisted and I sent in my spot and they have received it. I’ll let you know what happens when something eventually does.

Me too! Except I’m not too sure if they know I saw the decisions day link… Idk I feel like more than 60 some people had to have seen it! But it’s okay either way, I sent back my wait list paper and attached a letter along with it saying why I wanted to go. Ill keep everyone updated as well! and good luck wilkey! I hope we are both lucky and get in

Likelyhood:
Answers: Is he taking a wait list spot…No, No he’s not
“Bite ME” came BEFORE cocktail conversation…BUT six days after son said "I’d rather spend the next four years in Newark NJ than Newark Delaware…
Gonna PM you

imani - Bravo to your son! I always told my son when this whole process first started back in September: “if they don’t want you, then you don’t want them either”. I truly believe all of the kids will end up where they are meant to be.
