So true…options are key…I have to look up Baylor as I’ve only heard of it… great that he has that offer!
Trust me, that is the question we keep pondering. We are not a very religious family…
so if you live in New England you might not get that rate, but instead OOS tuition? What makes someone qualify for NE tuition break then? Also, did you have to apply for honors. My D24 got $74k merit but no honors and OOS tuition.
It’s called New England regional tuition and you basically get a reduced rate if your state flagship doesn’t offer the major your student plans to study. If you Google “New England Regional tuition UConn” you will find it.
Very helpful, thank you!
I just posted a question related to your post. D24 OOS also got accepted to Stamford (she only requested Storrs). She was accepted to her college (agriculture, health, and life science)and major (animal science) but neither the college it is housed in or that major is offered in Stamford! We are SO CONFUSED! I may have her reach out to admissions next week to clarify. With 55,000 applicants there’s bound to be some errors here and there maybe?
OOS D accepted to ACES. Dream School! Congrats all!
Same. She wanted nursing and no mentioned of that. Only that they are offering the semester abroad and Storrs for Spring. She has great offers elsewhere for nursing with great merit so she is going to withdraw application tonight. Abroad sounds great…she just does not want to do that for her first semester. Good luck to everyone!
how can one tell if they got into a special program of uconn such as “pre-dental or pre-law”
Could be a mistake or maybe they’re branchiing out and building that program there as well?
Anyone still waiting?..…lotta kids from out high school getting branched, but our portal shows no movement.
Probably not an error. Because Stamford is only regional that has dorms I am guessing they are directing some OOS students. My daughter applied Storrs but got Avery Point that does not have her major either. UCONN must be trying to keep acceptance rate up while also trying to increase enrollment at regionals
Son24 accepted to College of Engineering, with 18.5k per year scholarship.
OOS
Test optional
weighted GPA 4.0
3 APs
Football varsity team
He wants to do Computer Science, but there is no mention of major in the acceptance letter.
Do you have to be additionally “accepted” into the New England tuition break program?? My son was accepted into the eligible major (data science and engineering) which is a Maine resident-eligible major but still the Tuition Classification shows “Out of State” in the portal. I thought it was an agreement, not a thing they have to accept you into.
Is the campus not that nice at UConn? We haven’t been, and she was accepted. We plan to visit but would love insight.
Agreement. No acceptance required.
Huh. I guess I’ll need to contact them next week as there’s no mention of it
Correct. That is where they branch OOS (Stamford).
Ours was noted in a few sentences below where it showed what his major would be on the portal page, not the letter
It prob is correct. It’s v common to not get your major and if OOS and branched Stamford is only campus with housing. Its a bummer but not uncommon.
