Based on the pop-up in the net price calculator, which says to provide the student’s GPA on a 5 point scale for academic classes only, my guess is that they do use weighted GPA and give a 1 point bump for APs. My son’s school is weird about how they weight Honors classes (they don’t), and I’ve read some schools strip away all the plusses and minuses in their recalcs, which makes his weighted transcript GPA meaningless.
You’re right - I guess we’ll just have to be patient!!
No, they get to choose either traditional or suite style, and suite style are usually in north campus. Some dorms have a/c and elevators, some have neither. If no a/c they know they won’t be tripled.
So it doesn’t matter when you put deposit down for housing and it is all random (depending on if you choose traditional or suite style)? Is North campus mostly freshman? Thanks!
It’s a mix, but some students prefer to be on the main campus, there’s more going on, and traditional dorms tend to be more social (doors open, communal bathrooms).
Hope you don’t mind me jumping in with a question since you seem to know the campus!
How far is North campus from main campus? Are any academic buildings on north? (I’ll go look for a campus map too, but curious about any “convenience” of one over the other!)
My daughter was in honors, so Redding on main campus, I’m not sure about classes but north is a 15 minute walk. She moved off campus sophomore year, and never took a shuttle bus once on or off campus, it’s very walkable. Her friends visiting from Rutgers were amazed.
D26 got asked for mid-year grades on Friday. We’re taking this as a win because her mid year grades will only help her. Applied Kinesiology, 3.23 UW, 1190 SAT. Q1 Sr yr GPA is 3.8, so definitely will be sending those grades ASAP!
The students walk everywhere. The whole campus is walkable. North Campus is mainly Dorms and dining. It will take them about 10-15 min to walk to most places.
It likely just means your original one has left or been reassigned. Happened to my son at UTK when he was awaiting his decision from them back in 2024. Happened to my daughter this year at another school. I wouldn’t worry.
Were you already accepted and applied for the honors college? My daughter noticed the same thing and when I did a little research, I realized that the new person assigned handles honors college applications.
Maybe they just shuffled Admissions Officers around either because someone left or because they needed an additional person to handle given areas. Seems like it could be good news that they are reviewing things. Good luck to you.
