Back when there was no charge the highest merit was $17,000 a year.
The good ole days!!
Thanks! Good to know:)
UD Merit has been bouncing around $12,000 to $14,000 the last couple years. Theyâre in a bind financially and lately, hasnât been that generous in merit. Great school though, students love it there.
My daughter got into the honors college last night. Pros/cons?
The only con is the extra fees, and possibly put in a forced triple in Redding (my daughter didnât mind, itâs a great dorm). My daughter graduated from the honors college, her boyfriend did not, just couldnât get all of the necessary classes to work out, not a big deal. They do get earlier class registration, but my daughter came in with about a year old AP/DE classes and graduated a year early, so she rarely had issues anyway. At graduation, I was really impressed with where these graduates were heading next, graduate school, medical school, great companies.
Congratulations on the Honors admit!
Iâve been curious about whether an Honors College acceptance comes with extra merit like it does at some other schools. Did your daughterâs letter happen to say anything about that?
It does not unless you are one of the 100 invited to the scholarship weekend, all will get additional scholarships. Honors costs $2000 a year (this is new this year).
My daughter applied OOS in late October and still has not heard. I understand they send out decisions on Fridays. Did anyone receive an admission decision yesterday? I have been keeping an eye on this thread and didnât see much activity. The lack of hearing from them when we know decisions have been rolling out since November is nerve wracking. Trying not to read too much into it.
I havenât seen anyone on here that got a decision on Friday, but there were a couple acceptances on other forums I follow. Still a few weeks until the decision deadline. I assume youâve checked to make sure they have everything they need. I know itâs really nerve-wracking! Hang in there and best of luck!!
ETA I am sure you know this but if your daughter is a nursing applicant, those decisions arenât released until February.
My son was accepted as a Math and Econ major on November 7. We got his merit letter Jan 7. Still no word on Honors College. Is this a bad sign? It sounds like a lot of people found out already. I know they said âby March.â Maybe the decision will be in the next batch mid JanuaryâŠ?
I donât necessarily think itâs a bad sign. I donât know how they go through them, but there could be any number of reasons you havenât heard yet: major, location, etc. Iâm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope you hear in the next batch!
Anyone with prior experience at U Del get accepted after EA midyear grades were requested? Just wondering when kids typically hear back after providing midyears, and if grades remain same/improveâhow likely it is to be accepted.
Waiting is hard. D26 applied back on 8/1 but for nursing which has a later admission decision date (February). Itâs hard waiting that long when most others (other majors) have heard back already.
Our son was accepted to the Honors College earlier this week. It did not come with any additional merit. He had previously received $13k per year.
Iâm sure this has been well communicated here before, but there is actually a differential ADDED to your tuition bill for Honors College at UDel - $2K per year. So just be sure to take that into consideration while you weigh your options and make your decision. Congratulations!
Yes, my son got accepted after mid year grades requested. He received his acceptance on March 1. Hang in there, it is definitely possible.
Has any accepted student received a full financial aid package yet?
Were notified about merit scholarship but that is all. Have received full packages from 3 other schools, all of which accepted him after Delaware.
Our portal says that it comes in mid-February.
My son was admitted to Honors yesterday. Applied Mid-Oct, gained general admission 12/5 and honors 1/23.
