University of Florida Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

My son was waitlisted. Applied for Engineering. OOS. Any idea if they will post stats on waitlist numbers, and if waitlist admits will be based on major? For students admitted in June will freshman housing be challenging? I know it is a very long shot, but just trying to understand the possibilities.

Melissa, if an applicant is accepted to the PaCE program, is it possible to request consideration for acceptance to the on-campus program instead should space open up?

Accepted but no honors
honestly gonna call in and see if they can offer me honors due to personal circumstances (which are actually legitimate for this)

Congrats on being accepted. The next shot of getting admitted to honors is through lateral admission which you apply for after your first semester.

They are going back through the list on Monday.

Waitlist is not based on major, since it is our first year no stats yet, I would not expect housing on campus with a June admit.

Yes, you would ask for. Term/Program change form. A decision may not come until after May 1st because it will depend on space available with our confirmations.

Thank you! Much appreciated!

Will the merit awarded at the end of this month (March 2025) be awarded only to the RD admits or might a student that was admitted in the EA round also be awarded merit this month? Thank you.

Thank you! Our student seems to recall indicating on his application that he wasn’t interested in the PaCE program (although he’s not 100% sure whether the question was indeed asked on the application). If so, would that have any impact on his likelihood of changing to the traditional on-campus program when submitting the term/program change request form? Also, is it fair to characterize your role at UF as a member in the Office of Admissions. We just want to reference your suggestion to submit this form when reaching out to our son’s UF admissions officer.

PaCE is not an application on the freshman. It is a consideration by major after we have filled the on campus class and do not have room for the many very qualified students who applied. My official title is Senior Assistant Director.

Daughter was deferred and just received acceptance. OOS. Does anyone know how merit scholarships work for these students? Are they all typically awarded to those that got in during the first round? Or is there a chance for newly accepted students to be in the running for out of state aid? Thanks!

They will be looking at all admitted students for a last round of merit.

Grandparent waivers have been updated on the status page

Thanks for always updating us. Do you know if these just went to students who were deferred in EA or have they moved to the waitlist, also?

I believe there are some of both.

My D applied RD from NY and was waitlisted.

It goes by the date the waiver was submitted, correct? My son applied and was accepted EA and the grandparent waiver was submitted 10/31. We are still showing “1/27 grandparent waiver waitlist” on the portal so it hasn’t been updated since EA was released for him. Thank you for any update!

My son got a letter in the mail today with a $6000 OOS scholarship. We are still waiting for the grandparent waiver to come through (hopefully) but we will take this in the meantime!

@Melissa96 after the results this year with so many ea applicants rejected, do you think it would’ve been smarter to just regular decision?
