University of Florida Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Congratulations to all the New Gators
Welcome to the Gator Nation Class of 29

For all the deferrals
A deferral is NOT a no. This is UF first year so we will have to wait and see how many become offers of admission. PACE and IA offers will also be released from the deferrals in March

For the Denials
it Sucks
Unfortunately its a numbers game at this point just too many qualified applicants.
You will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out the reasoning.
From personal experience we are a house divided.
Our Seminole will graduate in May and FSU was the perfect fit and at this point cannot see himself a Gator or anywhere else.
I know this is hard to do now, but Love the school that loves you back

Finally if your heart is set on UF Santa Fe is an option Son has friends Graduating in May that started at Santa Fe and transferred

Son was deferred for BME OOS. Surprised but it’s competitive and that’s the game. 4.0 UW with 14 APs inc Calc BC and Physics C. 1510 SAT. VERY strong EC’s and Leadership (P and VP of 5 Clubs), very relevant and a lot of service including Gold Presidential Service Award, Medical Research, strong relevant essays to UF and major.

Oh well, he has some other great options and waiting on a few more. Congrats to those accepted!

I believe it’s by application date. But hopefully, someone else can confirm.

Straight rejected? Not even deferred?

Anyone get an EA acceptance with a theater or tech theater major?

It’s by the date you submit the waiver form

Daughter got in! OOS 4.36 UW, IBDP full diploma, 1440 SAT, 7th out of 476 in class. Super happy! Its an amazing school! Did anyone by chance get news about scholarships? Its doubtful I know, but just wondered! CONGRATS to all who got in!

Not sure if you were responding to me but yes rejected not deferred.

I was replying to you and I feel for you and your family. I am really struggling with hearing about OOS students with lower stats taking spots from in-state students. I get its a money grab but it really stings. Florida should adopt a policy similar to Texas that if you are in the top X% of your class you are auto-admitted. Fill those spots first then go look for out of state money.

Deferred
3.82 UW 5.2 WGPA
18APs
Very strong EC
1450 SAT in state

Sorry to hear that but there is an upside. The upside is some kid from New Jersey with a 4.3UW/1410 and has considered Florida her dream school for the last six months, can now film sorority Tik Toks and attend SEC football games.

I can assure you this is not the motivation of the vast, vast majority of OOS people that come here.

Yes, grandparent waivers go out to admitted students based on application date. You do not need to confirm to be considered.

Decisions are not made by major for any of our early action decisions.

Housing question. Son has been admitted, honors, yay. I just now started the Housing application and paid the $25. But it said that once a student is admitted, return to the housing portal and complete the application. But there’s nothing more there. Hoping for Honors housing. Where is the rest of the application, how long do we have? Or does he actually have to accept the offer of admission before we can do this? Thanks! @Melissa96

I’m sorry she was not admitted. We do look at a lot of different things including total number of academic course and strength of schedule when we are making decisions.

@Melissa96 dear daughter was rejected. Uf was her dream. High ACT and GPA and great stats like everyone here I know! We are OOS and do have domicile in Florida for 15 years because we have a second home there and grandparent does as well but did not put that info in because we are not there 365 but hubby does work out of that home many months and grandma is there most of the time but we still have home in another state. It will be our only home eventually. I was not aware this could possibly be factored in so the fact that info was omitted can we be eligible for an appeal perhaps?

Housing will be sending information about the contract for everyone who paid the $25 application fee. Of your student is coming to UF and wants to live on campus, that is when you will complete the contract.

Thanks, I guess a better question is how is ā€œstrength of scheduleā€ evaluated for homeschoolers since various programs / co-ops are so unique? She took six math classes up through Calc and Stats, three yrs Spanish, etc so not sure what else she could have done. She didn’t have the ability to take DE/AP classes given the structure of her classical education co-op which included a senior capstone thesis so just curious if that held her back and might her younger sisters.

She also scored a perfect 36 on both the English and Reading sections of the ACT which we credit to her homeschool curriculum. She has wanted to teach elementary education her entire life and be an ā€œEduGatorā€ but will now have to consider her other options. We don’t personally know of any homeschoolers who got in this round but I’m sure some did so just trying to figure out what differentiates them and perhaps her younger sisters need to consider a different path if they want to have a better shot at UF in the future. Thanks for your insight.
