University of Georgia Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

The application should be open on the honors website.

Do foundation fellowship finalist decisions come out today?

Seconding

In the past the 6 th was the date. No official communication has been sent out.

Date has varied. Some years it has been the Friday before classes start, and other years emails were sent during the first week of the semester. The semester started today, so I’d expect finalist emails to go out sometime this week.

New UGA Blog post…

Not yet.

My OOS child was deferred in EA. Recommended steps to demonstrate continued interest or just let it roll into RD? I believe deadline to submit is 1/31. If you do submit semester grades, is that done through SRAR? Does anyone know odds of getting in after deferral?

I’d love information here too. It is challenging to see the likelihood of acceptance after deferral. I love the blog and all its info, but wondering how much hope my kid should have here. It’s her #1. Good luck to all

UGA does not assess DI. It will not impact a decision. Follow the instructions in your portal for providing the updates they request. They don’t use SRAR.

From the link that dramamama2021 just posted:

Am I at any disadvantage by being deferred?

No. In recent years, a large number of students who were deferred Early Action were eventually offered admission to UGA.

The RD pool is typically weaker than the EA pool, hence ā€œlarge numbersā€ of deferred students ultimately are accepted.

I know the waiting is difficult, but aside from updating the school with first semester grades (and any other positive news), there’s nothing else to be done. Good luck to everyone.

Anyone deferred here? If so, I have a question on self reporting grades. Do they see the official grades either way? I assume yes, but curious if you don’t self report what happens? We will definitely but my kid has 1-2 B’s so I am a little concerned. That being said, her final semester should just be 1 B. I am wondering how she should word it or list them? Her quarter grades, her current grades and/or anticipated ones. It would be easier if she had straight A’s. Her junior year she had 3 B’s so this is a slight improvement. That is likely why she was deferred.

Meant to add- final semester grades won’t be out until the deadline or day before so it’s too late to list them I think without cutting it super close!

My OOS daughter was deferred. She is self reporting her scores on the update form. It says to do one or the other (self report or official from school). We were afraid official would not get there in time and we want her grades considered as they should help. If you think the scores help, self report either first quarter or current as of with the date. I would not put anticipated. To me that is not accurate and may be frowned upon as not actual. This is only my opinion. Good Luck!

You should definitely include your students first semester grades line in a line item format and add in any updated test scores they may have if they took tests after the deadline. Definitely send them in as well. Don’t just ā€œLet it rollā€

This update is done in the portal, inside of the window they provide.

Our DD was out of state deferred, despite high scores, 15 AP’s etc. She was accepted in RD and is the happiest student you’ll meet, completely in love with UGA in every way. It all worked out, honors acceptance, some scholarship, dorms etc. The process can be long, but for a place like UGA it’s truly worth the wait.

So yes, it’s possible to get accepted even OOS after deferral and also possible to get all the things. We also know other OOS and in state students who were deferred and accepted RD, all of varying stats and strengths.
