OOS Rejected. Now the tough decision between Clemson and Auburn. Congrats to all that got in!

OOS accepted. Does UGA offer merit? If so, when does it come out?

My daughter got in EA and merit was in acceptances.

Per David Graves in the blog comments, merit will be released through early April.

Our daughter OOS, Honors College is WL. Decision 07/01

OOS son accepted! Big decisions to make now. Accepted into business school but can anyone speak to their engineering program?

Congrats on the acceptance! To clarify, if your son was accepted as intended business major he is not in fact in the business school. He will need to apply to a specific business major, with a backup, after he has finished or is in progress with his prerequisites. If he wants to do finance or accounting, he will also need to take an accounting entrance exam. UGA Terry is not a direct admit business school.

As far as engineering goes, hopefully someone else will chime in. The engineering program at UGA is relatively new, with the traditional engineering state school being Georgia Tech. It is accredited and well respected in the state, but not sure what reach it has out of Georgia. They do seem to have a strong affiliation with NASA as we know several engineering kids who have interned with them.

S25 OOS Rejected Business/Finance. 4.5W overall, but 4.10 UGA Core. SAT 1440. We’re ok - EA with merit at Clemson and a few other OOS, and today he got into UC-San Diego which was a huge confidence boost after a few recent rejections/waitlists, even if he doesn’t choose to go there. His brother (S23) is a sophomore at Clemson and my nephew is a freshman at Auburn. Both really happy. Clemson is pretty special, IMO. Happy to provide insights as needed.

Thank you. My son is a legacy at Clemson but he also loves Auburn. Both seem like pretty special places. UCSD is a great confidence boost! Good luck with your decision. Sounds like he has some great options. We knew UGA was a reach as his AP count was a little lower than the mid 50.

My daughter toured the school recently and fell in love! So we were really thrilled when she was accepted because we were 50-50 on if she would especially as an OOS candidate. She has a solid GPA but her SATs were mid. She did write some fabulous essays and has great extracurriculars/leadership.
So the big question…how generous are scholarships for OOS students? She’s gotten some amazing packages from all the other schools she applied to but of course this is the one she loves!

My daughters scholarship came with acceptance.

Scholarship offers will continue to be sent out over the next month, but the majority of OOS students do not get offered any money. Some are given a waiver of half the difference between in-state and OOS tuition. A smaller number get a full waiver of the difference between in-state and OOS tuition, bringing the cost down to in-state tuition + room/board.

My daughter - also OOS - was also waitlisted for the Honors College. Does anyone know anything about how many are waitlisted for Honors, how many ultimately accepted, etc?

thanks you so much for sharing this information. i have tried to ask same qs in subreddit. But saw no response (yet).

The Honors College is typically a bit over 10% of the entering freshman class. Last year there were ~6150 total freshmen and 684 of them were in the Honors College.

As far as I can tell, the Honors College does not release the other info you mentioned. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with your student calling to inquire.

Students who are current UGA first semester freshmen taking at least 14 credits have one final opportunity to seek admission to the Honors College. If interested, they must submit an application prior to Reading Day (see academic calendar for exact date) of their first semester as a UGA student.
