University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

how rare is UIUC scholarship? Like percentage?

I don’t know what percentage of students receive scholarships, but DD also received one. It wasn’t large and it was merit based.

If I’m recalling correctly, she received a notification letter late spring, after she had accepted admission. It was for freshman year and then I remember she got a different named scholarship the following year. Things have probably changed since 2013.

You may be aiming for the top program such as CS in engineering school. It’s highly possible to get rejected when no 2nd choice selected.

How prestigious is James Scholar?

It means that GPA is 3.50 or higher

James Scholars eligibility:

  • Entering freshman who are in the top 15% of the College of Education admitted applicant pool are invited to participate in the James Scholar Program.
  • Transfer and continuing students who have earned at least 3.5 Institutional and/or Overall grade point averages will be invited to participate in the James Scholar Program in the fall term for the current academic year.

They say by April 1 I think

Have notifications for honors college started rolling out? If yes, any for Gies? If no does anyone know till when will they get released?

Hey people! I am intl got in for business to gies. Gies wasn’t my top choice, but getting rejected from my other choices, I have to consider gies right now. Can someone gimme insight into the pros and cons of UIUC? I am looking for finance, investment banking track, I feel I will not be able to adjust in a small town, I am a big city person all the way.

UIUC is not a big city, but the town, especially when the students are there, is active, with lots to do. Gies outcomes are very good, and the name is well respected.

With that said, as an international student majoring in business, most are expected to return to their home countries after graduation. Further and specifically, IB jobs in the US aren’t accessible by international students needing a visa sponsor. See here:

Is there any portal astrology for UIUC? RD applicant

Not yet probably. Most colleges upload decisions to the portal within a few days of decision release, at which point you may as well just wait it out.

There was absolutely nothing for EA. Although they were very transparent about the exact date and time that decisions would be available. I think they sent an e-mail to students and parents the week before. The actual release was about 15 minutes before the time posted (actually saw it posted here that they were out on another EA page).

There was something that worked day-of but I don’t want to spoil the fun, remember the forms and the number 98 (although this may change) :slightly_smiling_face:

My son is pretty sure he will be going to UIUC. My question is do we wait until the last day or two to accept and put the deposit down in hopes of getting some merit? I know that it is unlikely to get any merit, but we’re still hoping. Just wondering if accepting this early would hurt any chances of receiving merit. If FAFSA shows no need would that also hurt your chances of merit scholarship?

Are you OOS? UIUC gives very little merit to OOS admits.

There is no advantage to accepting UIUC early, since I think housing decisions are made after May 1 (or whatever the date turns out to be this year). I would wait until April 20.

We are actually in state, but I believe there isn’t much merit for in state kids either. Thanks for the advice. We will wait to accept the offer.

What forms?
