Yeah I wish they would break it down by actual majors- because that’s ultimately what the decision is based on.

Historically they have admitted 1500 to 2000 deferred students according to this FAQ.

I noticed on the application that they didn’t allow students to select psychology as a second choice major (same with computer science, engineering and business) which was surprising to me. So I would guess it must be highly selective. Did she pick a second choice major or division of general studies on her application?

Thanks for the insight! No- she’d rather go somewhere else than choose a different major.

That makes sense. I think that she likely would have gotten in to the Division of General Studies which they only offer to in-state kids but I don’t know if she could have transferred into psychology if it’s an impacted major there.

They are not looking at anymore grades, no letters. What is the point of Deferring, Is it just creating more competition between EA and RD kids. This is such a sad situation.

DD124 accepted to Biomedical Engineering. In State ACT 32. 4.59 weighted GPA
9 AP classes; 2 DE. Lots of ECs - varsity sports (Soccer, Basketball,hokcey) , clubs, and volunteer hours
DD224 accepted to Applied Health Studies. In State. Test Optional 4.39 weighted GPA
9AP classes; 3DE. Lots of ECs varsity sports (Swim and Water Polo) , clubs, and volunteer hours

Accepted CS Out-of-state, but am under-qualified/got really lucky.

Mostly all Honors/IB/AP courses
Average ECs - internship (small company), some other random things like arts/sport
Honors - AIME 1x, USACO Silver, + random awards from clubs and certifications

DD accepted OOS for Psychology
I wasnt even aware that UIUC admitted INTO specific major (like the UC system in a way)
TO/GPA close to 4.0+ (2 different schools and grading systems)
7 APs
Tons of ECs, sports, multi lingual, leadership
