In the past, students did not have the option of requesting a specific dorm.
The first line of the Housing site states " All new first-year students, including students participating in Living-Learning Programs, must complete a 2025-2026 Residence Hall Housing and Dining Agreement by May 1, 2025, to be eligible to live on campus.
This is a key point. Each LLP has a specific associated Dorm for housing the students admitted to that LLP. For example. students admitted to the ACES program within the Honors College are required to live in the Prince Frederick Dorm for their first 2 years.
Still, it is probably better to submit the housing form sooner rather than latter.
Students are first evaluated for admission to UMD without regard to any Major they requested.
If they are admitted to UMD, and selected a Limited Enrollment Program as their desired major (such as CS) their application is evaluated by the CS Department for admission. The answer is either yes or no.
If they are admitted, their decision will have the advising College listed at the bottom of the decision letter, otherwise it will list āLetters and Sciencesā
I posted the housing portal comment above but have since heard from people who work at UMD (not admissions though) that decisions will most likely be released 1/31. I guess we will find out soon.
This bus that visits 3 students and informs them of their admission (and scholarship). In past years, EA admission decisions have been announced on the Friday following this bus tour.
I believe students receive an email shortly before the decisions are live in the portal. Theyāll also announce across multiple social media platforms. Itās definitely going to be either this upcoming Friday or the Friday after.
@STEMX, I realize you wonāt be able to comment on the date, but perhaps you can confirm the announcement process? Thanks in advance
For my son the decision was there before he got the email in 2021. They announce it on social media as well pretty close to when decisions are released
What I have observed over many years, is that when people expect the EA decisions to be released (such as this Friday), they open their portal and keep refreshing it hoping to see the decision. They are not really checking their email, since the email will just say - āgo to the portal to see your decisionā
Maybe the emails come out first, but people are not focused on that.
