Based on zero information, I’m sticking with 1/24 based on terp bus and housing portal opening. Maybe I’m just being hopeful bc the wait is so difficult. I’m also seeing speculation that Michigan and UNC will be Friday

I think this Friday.
My understanding is that, for UMD, priority definitely goes to students who pay the housing deposit earliest. Granted, some housing is prioritized for students in various groups (honors, Carillon, etc).
When my older son was accepted, he did not fill out his housing agreement until he was ready to commit, not wanting to pay a high fee should he decide on another university. We later learned we had missed a VERY important bit of info… 2025-2026 New Students | Department of Resident Life
Note, especially…
“You will need to verify your personal and emergency contact information, indicate a desire for a disability accommodation, answer questions about living preferences, agree to the Agreement’s terms and conditions, and pay your $50 non-refundable application fee (unless granted a fee waiver from Undergraduate Admissions). You may cancel your housing agreement before July 1, 2025, without a financial penalty.”
Fortunately my son was in Carillon, so he ended up in an a/c dorm.
Should add, not all schools are like this. My younger son committed and submitted a housing agreement as early as possible to another school. That school doesn’t care when you submit. He is in one of the two worst dorms on campus (but surviving).

My younger daughter is also applying to UMD, so I hope that the decision comes out tomorrow, However, when my oldest applied in 2021, she got the decision last Friday of January, which is 1/29.
The other weird thing about the dates is that it’s so much later than it was a decade ago, I think?
All selective public schools have moved their EA decision dates to mid-to-late Jan for several years now.
If you look at this CC thread for UMD from 2015, you’ll see that they’ve been releasing on the last Friday of Jan for over a decade.

You could be right. I wonder why I remember earlier for my DS16. Maybe that was U Mass or U MI?
It is a five Friday month. I think they are taking advantage of the “usually announced in the last Friday”… But fully suspect it will be tomorrow

I just checked and it is not mentioned anywhere that my application comes under Early Action. Is there any sign on someone else’s portal which says that they are early action?
I don’t think so. I think it just says if status is complete and the date upon which it’s complete (some time in October for us). My assumption has been you’re in EA if the complete date is before November 1
Some of my material received dates show mid november. But I strongly remember that my application status changed from incomplete to complete on its own, a few days after applying. So I have no idea. Any thoughts?
I thought there was a line item that said “date complete” (or something like that)? Do you see that?
