University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2024

I follow this college expert on Instagram and she’s been spot on with all her “predictions” with when colleges are releasing and she said she is about 98% certain it will be 3/22! :crossed_fingers:

I was with my son at Campus Day yesterday and he connected with another student, also a twin, and his twin was accepted as well. I was thinking it was you! But it looks like you were there before us. Crazy more than 1 set of twins!
And yes, UMich did an amazing job and I’d love for mine to attend as well.

There haven’t been any discernible changes to the portal, hard to see them going out Friday… but that would be great.

We were there yesterday as well from CA. The program was well planned, the students who presented amazing, and the facilities are beautiful (especially the Bio building) but my kid just couldn’t take the cold! I lived in Chicago for years but even I couldn’t take it! My kid declined her admission today. I hope they pass the spot along to another deserving kid! Best of luck to all!

It’s cold all over the country right now. I definitely don’t think Ann Arbor is colder than Chicago and it was in the 70s there last week. Either way- congrats on your decisions and good luck!

I am laughing at this. I live in Chicago and grew up in Michigan about 30 minutes or so from Ann Arbor. Son went to Michigan. Graduated 2021 The weather is very similar. Like a day apart but I live in the city. Many winters we don’t see much snow due to lake effect. When I go to my office in the Suburbs there could be 6 inches of snow. Lol.

Also I am having some tea and it’s 34 degrees but the high today is 55 and Sunny. People college age are out running in t-shirt and shorts, people with light jackets on etc. I will be going out for a walk in a bit. If I wear my Michigan winter hat, I will get many Go Blue’s. It’s all what your used to or want. Many California students at Michigan. One of the leading demographics actually. But it’s not for everyone.

Yup we were there last week. Not surprised about the twins though, we’ve gotten that quite a bit along the way including in our BS. There’s also a 3rd kid with our last name so they’ve been dubbed the third twin. Not the triplet. Don’t ask me why!

Anyway glad you enjoyed it. Such a great place!

In regards to the 3/22 prediction, I think it is possible because in state, most high schools are on spring break next week. 3/29 as many are predicting would fall when many in state high school students are on vacation, many with friends celebrating senior year. 3/22 would let students know before spring break vacation. Just a thought. Don’t know how this affects the many oos applicants.

Looks like last year was 3/31, which was spring break as well.

Still think 3/29. Plus as I said earlier the portal hasn’t changed at all…I think they take away the “withdraw your application” button when it’s close. (Someone might be able to confirm this, all the portals are blending in my mind)

If i remember right from 2 years ago, on the Monday of the week decisions came out we had a blank portal with a blue screen and something that said to the effect of Portal down while decisions are being uploaded. On Fri the portal came back up and about 11am the withdraw button disappeared. Our portal and all buttons still look intact so I’m guessing next week is when they will release decisions.

Knowing nothing, that feels right. My casual perusal of earlier years suggested to me that UM is one of the latest to notify.

if only they took decision release timing into how it may potentially impact one’s vacation/school break into consideration. two sides to that coin - don’t ruin their time off or soften the blow by doing it when they are amidst a mental break.

the so don’t factor any of this in - if they cared that much they would release decisions already!

Counterpoint: there are tens of thousands of HS in the US alone. They do not all have the same vacation week(s).

exactly - so in no way are they taking that into consideration.

plenty on break TODAY/this week!

My point is that it seems that you are ascribing to inconsideration that which can easily be explained by the fact that they’re sifting through a total of nearly 100,000 applications overall, and are taking the time they feel they need to get it done and get it done well.

it’s likely already all done
