Can anyone recommend a hotel to stay at when visiting for a campus tour? We are not renting a car so would like to stay as close as possible. Looks like there is an inn on campus but no availability. Thank you!
The Graduate or the Marriott closest to campus.
ETA: These hotels will on the expensive side compared to others due to their location.
Colleges can make accommodations for students with special needs, including special housing. Typically you will need to show documentation of a condition before you can receive an accommodation. Here’s a place to start at Michigan: https://ssd.umich.edu/
thanks so much
Are those statistics for the Class of 2027? Because I personally know 7 kids that got off the waitlist at wisconsin so it seems strange that I would know 7 out of 11 kids that got off the waitlist. Not trying to be a smart alec but just curious how those numbers could be accurate.
Those stats are for the class of 2026. I have heard, but can’t prove, that many more were admitted off the wait list for both Michigan and Wisconsin last year.
She was “postponed” so not rejected at Umich and deferred at Wisc both EA. So i am guessing still in the running at both for RD. Just so I understand the stats you provided: at Mich, 17k were waitlisted, 13k students came back with their ECI (as i understand “took it”), and then from that 13k, less than 100 were admitted. If I interpreted this correctly, I don’t like those odds. I’m guessing similarly to Wisc, less than a dozen were admitted.
Thanks! Unfortunately I am not in active treatment due to my family’s financial situation but would a statement from a former provider work? I will look into it
I really don’t know. Contact the office and they will do their absolute best to help you.
A decision of postponement for some smaller programs, like Ross or “CS Advanced Selection,” is not the best news, because these programs MOSTLY fill up early.
Otherwise, a postponed candidate has a decent shot at admission in late March.
Waitlisted in late March is nearly rejection.
No the most recent CDS. so Fall 2022 for Wisconsin:
See section C2
But the point is - you were deferred at both.
Postponed is a fancy name for deferred. Or vice versa
So they moved your student to regular decision.
A Wait List means the school has decided not to accept you - but - they want you to hang out in case they need you. It’s a hedge for them.
A postpone / deferral means they’ve yet to take an action on you - accept or reject.
Very different - and yes, you’re still in the running.
Both are very difficult admits - so there’s still that.
But you were not waitlisted - and that’s a good thing!!!
Yes, I realized I meant to say Postponed/deferred at the beginning and not waitlisted. Thanks for clarifying and providing the stats - much appreciated.
My son with HF ASD simply had to submit his HS educational plan and was given a studio apartment…If you have a diagnosis contact housing and they will work with you to get appropriate accomodations.
Anyone know if admitted students get any sort of merch?
Understanding that Ross is highly competitive, and that a “postponed” decision by the Admission’s Office likely means a rejection from Ross, can a student in this situation still be admitted RD to the University (and choose a different program of study)? Or does the fact that they applied to Ross mean that they won’t be considered for regular admission once Ross fills up? Doing my best to understand our chances after “postponement” since Michigan is high on our list, even without Ross.
I just want to make 100% sure that it’s clear that the stats provided were for the wait list, not for deferrals (i.e. the RD round). You were deferred.
Upthread is a post from the admissions IG that last year about 20% of kids who were deferred were accepted RD (as also noted, this includes in and out of state kids).
Editing to add: sorry the IG post was from another school thread, Georgia Tech I believe.
Regardless, you’re in the RD pool
Yes, a student can absolutely still be admitted RD. You first have to get accepted into one of the Colleges (ie LSA) for Ross to even consider your application. Once accepted, it then moves to Ross. So your application will be considered regardless of Ross preference.
Talk to housing department. But if you want a single and try something totally different that is not a dorm. Esher on North campus you can get a single in two different sizes. It comes with a chef and you will barely need to cook. They even have cereal for breakfast. It’s like camp with fire pits and hammock, game rooms etc . But it’s mostly upperclassmen.

When I visited I stayed at The Graduate - it was close and nice!
