My daughter’s Honors acceptance came 1 week later. But, I think the Honors decisions are made by the specific college so the timing could vary? My daughter was accepted in to the College of Education and Human Development for Kinesiology.
Thank you, my daughter got into the school of Design for Product Design. Will keep eyes open for more info. So grateful to hear two weeks after submitting, thought we’d have to wait until January!
I’m so happy to share that I got my first acceptance from UMinn!
Applied: 10/28
Accepted: 11/11 (I did not expect to hear so soon, this was a shock)
OOS - TO - Psych - 3.8 (uw) - 4.2 (w) 6APs, 8Honors, 3DE, lots of ECs.
Good luck to everyone!
My D25 just found out she was accepted in-state (11/25) to Nursing. The website specifically said Nursing would be released 12/15, so it was a surprise to see that today!
Good luck everyone!
Same. D25 OoS also got accepted to Nursing today!
Does anyone know if in state applicants are given scholarships at UMN?
Hello all. What are the prospects for an OOS (Illinois, NW Suburbs big school) with a psychology major applying EA? D has a 3.71 UWGPA with a 4.53 WGPA. 6APs (including AP Psych this semester) and 7 Honors courses. Pretty solid essays. 4 year athlete with club leadership and good community service. She is applying TO. Thank you for any input.
Son applied to Engineering (Materials Science) on november 8th…admitted november 25th…international student…very happy
U of Minnesota Application Tracker is down and has been so for a few hours.
hi! congrats! what were their stats?
hello! congratulations. what were their stats?
Ok, I’m about to give up on Minnesota. My oos student applied 10/13 and has heard nothing. It’s weird too, as he falls well within their avg grades, test scores, etc and has a great activities list with leadership roles, his own business and excellent LOR’s. I am completely stumped.
But falling in the averages doesn’t guarantee a spot. It’s still a holistic process where they review each student individually. Decisions are made by January 31 for EA.
I hear you, I applied for nursing and saw that two people received decisions for it about 2, weeks ago when UMN said they weren’t giving them until 12/15. I’m freaking out ![]()
Are you in or out of state?
I wouldn’t read too much into it that you haven’t heard yet. UMN will release decisions along the way (typically on Mondays) but there isn’t much rhyme or reason to it. We are in-state. When my son applied in 2022, he was accepted by September. Many of his friends were sweating it out until January to hear about engineering.
My D25 is one of the ones that has been accepted for nursing. She applied in August. She is in-state, high stats, submitted a 35 on ACT, plays a year-round sport, has leadership extracurriculars plus has an unusual extracurricular, and volunteers at a hospital. We were similarly expecting to hear in mid-December but are very grateful she heard earlier. It’s making the December EA decisions be a little less stressful.
What is their major?
business
Carlson is a very competitive business school to get into. Just be patient, but also know that there are many applicants will apply for Carlson that fall within those average stats that will not be admitted to Carlson.
More information on how MN accepts students can be found here:
I’m in state
My daughter submitted her application via app on 8/1. OOS for CBS. She still hasn’t heard anything, but I haven’t seen many kids posting about being admitted to biology yet, so I guess CBS takes a little longer. It’s a bummer to have to wait so long, but it is what it is. One positive about them admitting on Mondays at 5:20 is that we know the day and time a decision will likely come. It’s better than constantly checking the portal every day!!
