Congrats! Can you share stats?

Has anyone heard from the business school? Or about scholarships? S25 got a decision back in early November, but then nothing since.

My D25 didn’t apply to the business school (she’s planning on kinesiology) - but she was accepted 10/14, admitted to Honors on 10/21, and received a merit scholarship offer for $25K/yr on 11/25 ($10K Gold Award / $15K National Scholarship).

  • OOS
  • 4.0UW/4.73W
  • 1470 SAT
  • National Merit Semifinalist
  • 8 APs (5s and 4s on the 5 AP exams she has completed)
  • 5 DEs
  • 10 Honors
  • Decent ECs but nothing unusual

We’re still waiting for CBS as well.

Hi - last year Honors and Merit were communicated in snail mail. Is that the same this year? Or is the school communicating these through the portal now?

Thanks!

I got these notifications through my portal first, and then through snail mail

My daughter received honors & merit notices through email/portal (email telling her that there was an update in the portal) - and then snail mail came later. All of the emails (acceptance / honors / merit) came on Mondays at 5:20pm EST.

Any Student accepted to CS in ‘College of Science and Engineering’ ? My D got accepted on 4th Nov but haven’t received any honors mail till now for this college. I wanted to check the same

Ok, I think my oos student is over Minnesota— he submitted his application 10/13 and has heard nothing. Crickets. He falls within the 50% range easily in all categories, sent good essays, has great LOR’s, varsity athlete, captain of several teams, owned his own profitable business for the last 5 years. He’s been accepted at 4 colleges and deferred at 2 so far. But Minnesota is this black box. Let’s just say his enthusiasm for it is waning.

What is his major?

I think he listed Business but on their website they say if one program doesn’t have room for an applicant, that applicant is automatically considered for other programs that match their interests/background. I would rather they have a firm decision date rather than this rolling system.

Well
don’t lose hope. The Carlson School is amazing, and there are so many opportunities to network, intern, etc. in the Twin Cities. Definitely worth the wait.

Has anyone gotten a Carlson admit yet? I think many of us are waiting on that also.

My OOS S25 was admitted to Carlson in October, but have not received any honor or merit notification. Since we haven’t heard anything for the past two months, not sure if is going to happen.

S25 (OOS) was just awarded merit this week. The merit notification came 2 months after he was admitted to Carlson.

The rolling process can be frustrating, especially as their peers start to lock down their choices, but a pending decision at this point means “yes” is still a possibility (says the parent of a now happy sophomore who did’t have a final decision from another competitive UMN program until early April.)

You don’t have to make any decision until May 1. I know waiting is difficult but we’re not anywhere close to the deadline yet. Lots of schools won’t send any decisions for a month or more.
