thank you. My son just told me one of his friends got the presidential award email yesterday. $10k a year for four years. Maybe it’s starting to roll out. In-State
He’ll most likely eventually get another $1,000/year for being a National Merit Finalist on top of the Gold Scholar Award but that will come in much much later, likely summer. We tried pressing for the Presidential Award when my student was accepted in 2023, but no luck getting both, though perhaps that is because we got the National Award for OOS. My student did get a CLA scholarship, too.

I applied to UMN and noticed that my portal changed - it used to show my specific admission counselor’s photo and contact info, but now it just shows the general Office of Admissions contact info with Goldy. Has anyone else had their portal change like this? Just checking if this is normal!

My guess is that they have a vacancy in that position right now, so that is a placeholder.

Daughter received acceptance email on Tuesday night 01/21. Application submitted in Oct 2024; Accepted to her second choice of school.

Is there ANYONE who still hasn’t heard from UMN? My OOS son sent his EA app in Oct and has heard nothing. That can’t be a good sign. 3.8UW, 4.2 W, 30 ACT, owns his own profitable business (5 years), leadership roles, 4 year varsity athlete with multiple captainships, solid essays, strong LOR’s. I just don’t get it.
We heard for one school then nothing for 1st choice school, nothing for merit, nothing for honors.
My daughter applied 8/1 OOS for CBS. She has not gotten a decision yet. I think many EA students are still waiting It just SEEMS like we’re the last ones!

S25 OOS applied to CBS in last week of Oct. Just got accepted to College of Liberal Arts! His second choice was Mathematics in College of Science and Engineering. I think we applied late and Carlson is likely full already.
