University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

Just checked it and nothing! Weird I’ll have her email or call on Monday to make sure they have the right email address. She just got her wisdom teeth out this morning so this was the best medicine for it to come in the mail today

Was the letter the typical big packet or a business size envelope? Hoping my son’s is not a rejection …

@momcubed , Our Pitt acceptance letter was a large envelope; however a letter explaining acceptance to their Honors College arrived today in a standard, legal size envelope. Good luck!

Acceptance was in a packet sized envelope

Hi guys, pitt requested for my 1st quarter grades or midyear idk which my dad just called me and told me since I am not home. Anyways, is this a good or bad thing? Everyone with grades has gotten in? I have an upward trend and excellent essays. Is it because they want to see the continued upward trend? Ill send my grades in because they’re good but I’m also an Indian female so idk if that has an impact. I am just a little bit scared. Thanks

My Pitt Portal says

Update your personal information, track your application status, and find links to many different University of Pittsburgh websites.

It does not say whether my sat scores or other components of the application were sent. Is this normal?

Hi hailtopitt1787 Do we need letters of recommendation for chancellor application? It did not ask for that.

Hi I received my acceptance at the end of October, but still haven’t heard anything about scholarships…Is it too late to get one? I go to a magnet school in NJ and most people from this school who have graduated and attended pitt had received some sort of scholarship. My stats are 1410 and 3.5 unweighted 4.1 weighted, an officer of many clubs and completed my gold award. Am i eligible?

@leaveamark did you look on the Pitt merit scholarship information page? 1480 SAT is the lowest threshold it seems for Pitt merit. Your peers who got a merit scholarship likely had higher test scores.

Accepted 10/15: Swanson School of Engineering (MechE)

Stats:
SAT: 1380/1420
GPA: 3.5 UW
Rank: Top 20%

Essays: Decent
State or Country: PA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

@hailtopitt1787 What is the process for an appeal for admission?

I submitted my application 11/12, and I believe my test scores were received around 11/14 or 11/15. When should I expect a decision, whether that be the buttons changing or receiving an actual email?

On the Pitt app it says that I still have to pay the application fee and send in my HS transcript, however I have already done both of these things. I only applied a few days ago, does it just take some time to process? Thank you.

Yup! I apologize for the late reply. The subject said “What You’ve Been Waiting For!” aswell as a link to a video. All the best!!!

I see the button changed to accept/ decline and when I clicked on it it said no pending applications. What does this mean?

@CC12, If they did not ask for letters, then no need to worry about it!

@johnpc, You should have some new academic information to share (new SAT/ACT scores, for example) and you can contact our office directly to ask to be reviewed again: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

@xi8a4go, It does take a few business days to process.

Hi hailtopitt1787, I applied to Pitt 11/8 and my test scores are below most average applicants (1210 SAT & 27 ACT). Since I am not the strongest candidate score-wise, how long do you estimate it will be until I hear back? Would it be unwise to email the admissions office and see the status of my application- whether it has been reviewed or not?

@esb0513, It typically takes an applicant about a 3-6 weeks to hear back. Feel free to follow up if it has been more than six weeks since your application was complete and you have not heard from us.

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

Great, thank you so much! Also, I heard that the admissions office is closed for a period in December… when exactly is that?
