Good luck!
Does anyone know how many Chancellor’s Scholarships are awarded each year? I found the number that are invited to apply and the number that are granted interviews. But I can’t seem to find how many are actually awarded the scholarship. Thanks!
@moncomom —last year when I was digging around it seemed like it was anywhere from 6-15 and it varied from year to year. Good luck! D said in her interview they made it sound like the number was super flexible based on the batch of finalists.
I do find it interesting that only like ONE finalist for Chancellor’s came back on this forum to report they received the scholarship. In years past, at least four or so reported back that they had received the award. D lives now in Sutherland and says so far she has not met any Chancellor’s winners that she knows of—and the kids do indeed talk of such things.
Online all it says is that 600 are invited to apply, about 80 invited to interview.
@carachel2 Thank you!
Hi, I recently learned about Pitt through research (I’m from Las Vegas and didn’t know about Pitt until recently). I plan on applying by the Dec 15 scholarship deadline. Will the date of my application affect how much scholarships I can get? I know I’m kinda late to the party but I do have a 34 ACT, Class Rank 1, and National Merit SemiFinalist
Hi, Congrats. Welcome to Pitt. Still, you can make it and your stat you should get a good Merit Scholarship. Pitt awards Merit Scholarships from Nov to March. So you have plenty of time and Don’t forget to answer all three short answers. Good Luck. (Even though they need one of three)
Applied 11/1 , Accepted today 11/28. Swanson Engineering. Chemical.
S very excited- Pitt first choice . Hoping for some Merit.
Visited Princeton yesterday, he has a decent shot but Pitt #1 in his heart.
1550 SAT , 4.5 GPA, 3rd in class of 280.
Lots of AP , Decent ECs .
Essays… well OK .
1470 SAT 4.2 GPA in state applied to Swanson Engineering 9/26… still no response. I emailed admissions a week ago and still no response to that either. I’m starting to think they accidentally deleted my file
Call the admissions office and talk to someone.
@bigbrewer299 – you need to call someone ASAP. Tomorrow.
@bigbrewer299 , the others are right about calling but I wanted to add that they are insanely backlogged on emails if I remember correctly from last month. It took a really long time to hear back. You need to call.
Hi all - The anecdotal application-to-admissions timelines posted by many of you have been helpful to me in calibrating expectations, so I wanted to post our timeline if helpful to others. My D applied 11/1, but her application was not “complete” per Pitt until 11/14 or thereabouts. I assume the application is not forwarded for admissions committee consideration until complete in Pitt’s system, so I’ve assumed 11/14 is the operative date in terms of how long we waited to get a decision. Not too long as it turned out, as the “buttons changed” today reflecting the accept/decline options with respect to admission. OOS, 33 ACT, 3.9 uw gpa.
Very grateful to Pitt for accepting my D and all the helpful info from Hail to Pitt and from those on this and the other Pitt-related threads. Thanks much everyone!
@ JMS111 Congrats to D + you . My S got Email yesterday. Applied same day as yours.
He absolutely refused to go online + " check Buttons "
Thought I was whack for asking him to !
Applied 10/30

Hi! I applied to Pitt and got into the business school but after finding out that I am not allowed to do a double major in Business Information Systems and Computer Science I would like to go to the School of Arts and Sciences. How would I go about doing this? Should I just call the admissions, will they relook at my application etc?
My son applied on 11/14. The status shows application complete. I don’t remember how long it took for my oldest son to be accepted at Pitt. Does anyone have any idea how long before he hears something? He applied to the School of Business.
@June58 I think they say its around 2-4 weeks for the letter. Try and download the UPITT mobile app to check for the accept/decline buttons.
When I click on Admissions, it says no application pending. At the top it says accept/decline admissions, but that is just the title of the page, not buttons. I submitted 11/15, so does this mean I am accepted or have I not gotten a decision yet?
The waiting is the hardest part!!!
