@hailtopitt1787 , is there a premajor for the emergency medicine major? Sounds like students start in Dietrich until junior year and then switch to a different college. What’s the typical path for this degree and do the required courses also include all the premed requirements? Does program give you enough hours to sit for national boards to be a paramedic? Thanks in advance.
@TenCh430 Those Accept/Decline buttons mean that you were accepted. Within a week you should get a letter in the mail. Congratulations!!!
@burke1098 I think you’re mistakenly misleading @teCh430. What he describes means his application is under review, he does not see buttons yet. When it says “you do not have any pending applications at this time” without buttoons it doesnt mean acceptance. It also doesn’t mean he didn’t get in. It means his application is under review.
Hi everyone, this week marks 6 weeks since my application was complete, but I haven’t gotten buttons or any e-mails yet…is anyone else on the same boat?
Hi @Sophley, you are correct. Students will typically start in Dietrich with a premed path and then apply to transfer to SHRS. I recommend you ask your latter questions to the school themselves since this is an upper-level school, they are be better suited to answer your questions. You can email admissions@shrs.pitt.edu or call 412-383-6558.
@hailtopitt1787 we were so excited that my DS was admitted a couple of weeks ago. Do you know when we might hear about considerations for merit scholarships? Finances will be a significant factor for our family. Thank you!
ETA - I know this was asked/discussed a few pages ago, but I didn’t see if we got an official answer from the insider
When my son was accepted to Pitt a couple of years ago, he didn’t receive scholarship offer until mid January.
@fretfulmother Congratulations! Scholarship notifications will go out by March 1. Good luck!
@hailtopitt1787 thank you!!
Has anyone actually gotten a denial yet? Because they had asked for updates ACT scores before making a decision… and my son got the same exact score as last time (which is 24 or 25 superscored and below their norm)… even though he has 3.7 UW and 4.7 W with 9 AP classes…
looking for that thin envelope in the mailbox.
Obviously no accept/deny buttons - just keeps saying no pending applications.
S20 received video email acceptance last week. Visited Pitt over summer. We were incredibly impressed both with university and opportunities it presented. The school as a whole did everything first class during visit on Blue Gold days. To his own credit ( he is 100% responsible for his own success , self motivated , I take no credit I was only there to be a support to him through high school) he is competitive applicant at the top rated schools. Outside of Pitt he has applied to only four other schools, Harvard, Yale, Penn and MIT. I asked him yesterday, theoretically , after receiving his Pitt acceptance, you get accepted at MIT early action (MIT has been his aspiration throughout high school) and you also get a very significant merit scholarship at Pitt , what would you do? Without hesitation he said Pitt. He said he knows Pitt will give him every opportunity to succeed in his goals. He felt despite the reputation of the other school the cost would like impede rather the accentuate his opportunities. A merit award at Pitt is a game changer in his mind. I feel this speaks mountains to how Pitt presents itself. Also I must say I was most proud of his insight, I felt it is very mature to realize that point at 17 years old. I offer this story as I see many of the students in here are incredibly accomplished academically and perhaps they may find themselves having to make a similar decision in months to come. H2P
Submitted application on 9/22 via Common App, submitted SRAR on 9/28. On the passport.pitt website, using the login from the tech help desk, it says application is complete. When I check “ToDo List” on the mobile app, it takes me out of the app to the passport website in Safari saying app is complete. When they make a decision, will the passport site be updated with the decision? Or is that only through the app?
Since I applied via Common App, I have no Pitt login so cannot log into the “admissions” tab on the app. How do I set up an account that is associated with my application?
Wow okay so I just got the buttons. Am i definitely in Im so excited im shaking.
I just got my Pitt Honors acceptance in the mail!!! This doesn’t mean that they’ve considered the merit-aid scholarship yet, right? It didn’t mention anything about receiving aid, but that doesn’t come out till March?
Just sharing my daughters timeline.

Hello, I don’t know if this is the right thread to ask this on but I am OOS applying to Pitt Nursing and the Honors program soon. Of the five essays, I’ve completed three. The two I haven’t done yet are the optional new product prompt and the read/watched/listened… prompt. Am I better off sending in my application right now since I’ve seen a lot of people say it is better to send it early for merit aid, or should I do all the essays? Thanks!
Hi! I applied to Pitt last friday (the 27th i think?) and I am so anxious to hear back from them. I hope I’ll be able to attend and see some of you there!
Also I have a few questions.
- Some of you are mentioning a button change? Is that when your application goes from "Submitted" to "Downloaded by college" or does it mean something else.
- I submitted my application sept. 27 and I used the SRAR instead of transcript. On friday the 4th I realized the status was "Downloaded by college" (It may have changed before that but I wasn't checking) How long do you think until I hear back from them? I'm just so anxious about this process haha.
@fakesnek
You already got acceptance to honors? Anyone else here heard back on honors?
