University of Pittsburgh Class of 2024 Official Discussion Thread

Hi Everyone! My daughter submitted her application just last night. I have read so many things and I am getting confused with the process. Would you mind sharing what should we expect? I see people mentioning buttons, letters and emails. She has not received the email the application said she would receive within an hour (to check her application status,) and she requested her scores and transcript to be sent to Pitt since 10/3.
I am not from the U.S. so college application process is completely new to us.
I truly appreciate your help! :slight_smile:
Thanks and congratulations to all the outstanding children already accepted!

I don’t know if the process is different for international students, but I submitted my application through the common app which then has to submit to Pitt’s platform. Two days later, I received an email from Pitt saying they received the application and gave instructions to input my grades in the SRAR. Then I received an email giving me my Pitt ID which you use to access their system.

From this thread I learned of this link https://psmobile.pitt.edu/app/dashboard which is the only place people are seeing the “buttons”. You must have the ID from Pitt to access this site though. Pitt gives you a site that tells you whether your application is complete or if they still need items from you.

If you are admitted, under the site I listed above, click on the “Admissions” tab and then “accept/decline admissions” and if they are still considering it will say there are no pending applications. If accepted, it will list the term, school and ask you to click “accept” or “decline”. A day or two later you should receive a personalized acceptance video in an email and then a week or so later, a letter in the mail.

If you do not get accepted or you are deferred, I do not know the process. I assume a letter arrives in the mail?

I hope that helps and good luck to your daughter!

If you click on the Accept button, does that mean you are committing to attend Pitt?

@vannevka Thank you very much!
I am not from The U.S. but my daughter is, sorry if that was confusing.
She applied directly to Pitt’s application website and has already submitted her grades to the SRAR.
This is very helpful! We will now be looking forward to receive that email from Pitt to check on her application status.
Thanks again!

Button question- we got 1 button today. The accept/decline admissions button. But my son doesn’t have 2 buttons that I’ve been reading about (no school or term listed). Anyone know what this means?

@lablover69 Are you using the psmobile portal? In that portal, click on the admissions tab and there should be another sub tab that says Accept/Decline admissions (which is what I think you are seeing). If you click on that tab and your son is accepted, there will be a school/term/major + two buttons on the screen. If they are still reviewing his app, then it should say “there are no pending applications at this time” or something like that.

Yes, I am using the mobile portal. Yesterday, it had the message about no pending applications. I was too nervous to hit the accept/decline button because I didn’t know if it insisted on accepting or declining admisssion right then and there.

@beckybarnesx Yes that means accepting offer of admission and they will ask for deposit.

@mom4bear Thank you!

@lablover69 Nope, clicking on the Accept/Decline admissions tab won’t mean accepting/decline an admission right then and there. It does bring you to the page where the two buttons appear. Like what the post above me says, that happens when you click on the (singular) Accept button in the middle of the page, not the tab on the left side of the screen.

Can someone please rank the Greensburg, Johnstown, Bradford campuses for me? I’ve heard mixed reviews on all three of them

The branch campuses sometimes have different majors available, you would also save money if you live close enough to commute.

Johnstown and Bradford give some scholarships as far as I know (for certain stats, living on campus, etc), you can check their websites.

If you are considering a branch campus, you might want to visit and get more information from the major department that you are interested in.

Good Morning!
D got the email with credentials to login. I can see the Accept/Decline Admissions everyone mentions and the no pending applications at this time. I also see a number 3 in the “To Dos” tab, when I click on it, it lists SAT scores, HS Transcript and Application fee. all of those have been taken care of, the scores and transcript were requested/sent 10/3 and the fee was waived because D received an invitation to apply. Could it be that the school has not received them yet, or that they are under processing? Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks!

She should receive an acceptance video by email and then a mailed letter if she was accepted.

Son received letter today stating that although he did not get into the business school (1st choice), that he was being considered for Deitrich Arts and Science and that his sophomore year he could apply for business program, and that Deitrich will provide the classes to get him ready for the business program.

It did NOT say he was accepted to Deitrich, just that he was being considered for that program and not the business program. No buttons. 3.71UW, 4.+W, 9AP’s including Physics and Calculus, and 6 Honors classes, but only a 24 on ACT with 26 superscore.

Don’t really know if this is a good thing or bad…

Hey a quick question. Under the mobile dashboard link that everyone is posting here, It says my major is undecided when I am 100% sure of selecting a major. Is that how it is for everyone? This was the link: https://psmobile.pitt.edu/app/dashboard

How did you check your application to make sure you put stats? I applied directly not through common app.

@emilyfv2010 Hmm I don’t know if it depends on what school/major you’ve applied to, but mine says School of Nursing - Nursing major. I applied directly on their site.

@buckybarnesx I applied to the Dietrich school of arts and sciences. I have sent them an email. The only thing I’m worried about is I wont be able to major in what I want if all the classes are taken up since they’ve put me for undecided.

@emilyfv2010 - my daughter’s portal showed undecided for Dietrich but when the actual packet came in the mail it listed her specific major. I think the portal defaults to undecided. Check the letter you get, which you should receive about a week after you see the buttons.

Son recently accepted as OSS. Not expecting any merit aid but when will we be notified of that. Thanks
