@emilyfv2010 Mom of a current student here. You don’t declare your major in Dietrich before you arrive. You have until the end of sophomore year to do it, though of course you can do it earlier if you wish. Course registration is done by amount of credits you have, not by major. While there are certain upper level classes reserved for majors, most lower level classes are open to everyone with no preference for majors. The only exception is that there will be a certain number of seats reserved for nursing in courses like bio and chem, and for business students in business calc for example. I’ve never heard of anyone having trouble getting the classes they really needed unless they don’t register when they are supposed to.
Hello all. Congratulations to all who’ve been accepted this far! I’m wondering if anyone has gotten word about any merit aid yet?
@Beekayweha - I’m wondering too!
Waiting on merit news here, too. Last year, the first reports of merit appeared on CC on Oct 18, I believe.
According to Informed Delivery, we will receive a postcard from Pitt today. It has our correct address, but it’s addressed to John Travolta. ? S swears he has never listed his name as such. Not sure why Pitt thinks John Travolta lives here at our house. ?
We have not heard any admission news yet (just received credentials to login on Monday, I know is kind of soon,) anyone has an idea of when would the next wave would be released? The waiting is horrible!
My daughter applied using the Common App on 10/18 and she hasn’t heard anything yet.
I applied 10/12 and still haven’t gotten a decision letter…
I applied as a transfer in late August and haven’t heard back yet. I called the admissions office and they let me know that the School of Computing and Information takes a very long time to release decisions. Hope this info can help other SCI applicants waiting!
I applied 10/15 Business and got the acceptance email on the 28th. OOS, 1560 SAT, 5.56/6 W, 4.0 UW, 36 ACT, 8 APs (+9 senior year), top 4% of large competitive public high school.
Application info for my son- Applied 10/8, application complete 10/18 (that’s when they rec’d test scores), button appeared 10/25, email received 10/28 and acceptance letter arrived 10/30. 95.9 unweighted gpa, 1550 SAT.
I am wondering about Scholarships- 2 years ago my sons acceptance letter mentioned that his admission file will be reviewed by the scholarship committee and if he was eligible he would receive written notification at a later date. Does anyone’s letter mention scholarships? I am wondering if they changed the letter from years past or if my son is not in the running for merit aid.
We just got the email for Admitted Student Day on December 2nd. Is anyone attending?
No.
36, 4.92/4.0
I sent my test scores on 10/24 and submitted my application on 10/27. The scores miraculously arrived today (despite my not having sent them rushed). They show up in the portal under Academics, Test Scores. However, there remains a tab in the portal called “To-Do” that says “ACT/SAT scores.” When you click on it, it takes you to a screen with a few things including “due: 11/27” (not sure where that date came from) and “status: initiated.”
Did anyone else experience this? Will the “to-do” disappear in the near future, since they received the scores?
@NYNYstudent That also happened to me, I emailed them and confirmed they had received all my information. I had a 3 under the “To Dos” and 0 “Holds.” That 3 went away the next day. I still have not received any news, and it is showing “You do not have any pending applications at this time” According to the other posts, this means they are still considering my D’s application. Good luck!
Thank you, and same to you!
Has anyone heard about Merritt Scholarships. Three years ago my Daughter found out 4 weeks after being accepted. The only reason why she went to Pitt was Scholarship.
How much were the scholarships?
Got scholarship letter today, $20k per year for four years.
36, 1550, 4.74 w.gpa (4.0 unw). Lots of ec and a Blue & Gold visit.
We are grateful, but were hoping for more; Older brother with slightly worse stats in 2016 was offered full tuition and considered for full ride.
Congrats @fretfulmother , and thanks for posting here. It’s good to know the merit letters are going out!
What college was he accepted too
