@TheVulcan I’m in a very similar situation… I was accepted to SCI in mid-September and still haven’t received anything about merit. I also got that letter you discussed a few days ago about values.
@TheVulcan and @fakesnek My daughter was accepted 11/4 with fairly high stats to SCI and hasn’t received anything about merit. She also received the letter you both also received shortly after being accepted.
I was accepted on 11/6 and received the invitation for GAP but haven’t received any merit. Does merit only come by snail mail, because I am an overseas US Citizen applicant so the delay would make sense.
Yes. Some get it within two weeks of acceptance, some are still waiting after two and a half months. There does not seem to be a discernible pattern.
@TheVulcan
Same position as you. Accepted 9/30 - with no merit or GAP yet. Will get DS to give a call on Monday.
Applied on Nov 9th and got the response yesterday.
Applied Nov. 15th and just got in now!
I applied October 30th, and they received my application on November 4th, but I have yet to get my decision. Should I be worried? or is anyone else in the same boat?
Applied SCI Nov 1st, application complete within a few days, still no decision
Son applied 10/29 incl. Honors app.
Acceptance letter rec’d 11/24, GAP MBA invitation rec’d 11/28.
Nothing on Honors or $$ yet.
OOS, 99 avg., 1540 SAT
My son too has not heard anything for over 4 weeks. Actually complete 10-30. Haven’t heard anything either. Getting a little worried…
My D applied Oct 30 and application complete Nov 7. Still waiting.
Hello!
I applied 10/31, application downloaded 11/3, received my admissions decision today a few hours ago by email.
OOS applicant, SAT 1570, ACT 36, 4.00/4.50 (W/UW).
Waiting to hear back from honors college and GAP in medicine. Are the honors college decisions received separately from the regular Pitt undergrad? (or should I just assume I got rejected from that lol)
As far as I know those decisions have not come out yet
@fakesnek reported receiving honors admission in mid-October. But he seems like an anomaly in that regard.
So you’re planning on doing SCI (or similar major elsewhere) for undergrad before starting medical school?
Make sure you have plenty of humanities courses in premed study to balance out the STEM.
I don’t know if a computer science degree would lend itself to that, since you also have to take the required bio, chem, biochem and physics classes for premed, in addition to extra math and programming, but I’m no expert.
It used to be that computer science started out in Arts and Science for the first two years, not sure if that is still the case, so your advisor could help you figure out if it’s all possible to do in four years.
My son got the email yesterday and we are very excited but the portal hasn’t changed. Just says “Application is Complete”.
Can someone send me the URL that was discussed in earlier posts?! Would appreciate it.
Thanks so much in advance!
Congrats! See post #18
@TheVulcan Yeah I’m considering doing CS before medical school
