My son has not received merit, but did receive a t-shirt
I had seen upthread that there was a note with the t-shirt saying that it was given in connection with an info session the student attended in October.
Anecdotally, D21 did receive merit but received the notebook and stickers (no t-shirt). Did not attend the aforementioned Oct info session.
At the end of the info session they asked you what size Tshirt you wanted so I am sure it’s from there.
same - rcvd merit and notebook and stickers but not shirt (did not attend Oct info session)
No. He got a free tshirt when we visited but just the notebook when he was accepted. You can hear about merit until March
Will applying to a less common major lead to a chance of getting a better scholarship offer? And does it help if you can email the Pitt scholarship or financial aid committee about offers from in state programs so it could potentially help you get more money?
In the letter for the shirt it says it is from the info session
Hello, I made a comment a bit further up about this. My t-shirt came with the note citing my attendance of an info session (though it was back in October). Not sure if that is the case for everyone else on this thread who revived t-shirts.
My daughter did a regional session. It was 1:1. No mention of a shirt - but dad liked they gave the application tuition waiver!!!
hey guys love you
Hey
What should a prospective Pitt student be looking forward to at Pitt that they can’t get anywhere else?

Weird…

i don’t see how that’s important on this thread.

Got the following email yesterday. Financial aid should be coming next week!
" You’ve done all the hard work – getting accepted to the University of Pittsburgh. Congrats! Now, we want to help make a Pitt education your reality. The Department of Education provided us with updated information for Financial Aid last week, and we’re triple-checking to make sure we get it right!
If you have:
- filled out the FAFSA and added Pitt using our school code: 008815, and
- provided your social security number to the financial aid office,
then you should get an email from pittfa@pitt.edu with all the details of your 2021/2022 financial aid offer the week of February 8, 2021.
When you receive this email next week, please review it carefully. If you need help understanding it, we are standing by, ready to talk. You can email us at finaid@pitt.edu or you can call us at (412) 624-7488 (Option 2).
Hail to Pitt!
Pitt’s Financial Aid Team"
I got the same email!
Everyone got that. That’s simply your need based and most likely just your guaranteed $5500 loan. Nothing to do with merit aid. The clock is ticking and it’s getting less likely.
The reality is few get it - but many posting on here get it. Many who have gotten it have gotten the diversity scholarship.
I’d love for my daughter to get merit so we can consider Pitt but each day makes me feel less certain it will come. It’s a shame - the school fits her - but not my bank account.
