I have heard that Pitt has a great nursing program, good luck! We are deciding between Ohio State and Pitt undergraduate business schools, also re-looking at Delaware’s business school because he got into the honors program. Any thoughts on any of these wonderful choices?
Looking for perspectives on Pitt vs. UCONN for exercise science/rehab science. Assume both are financially doable. Thanks!
PITT is great in the health sciences. However, that should play little role here.
College should be about fit - especially in a major like this where pedigree/rank does not matter.
One is a city school and one is in the sticks although not horribly far from the city.
Where would you feel best - don’t forget you have to live there four years.
Good luck.
Thanks. Kind of disagree about pedigree not mattering, since the plan is to apply to PT school. Probably should have mentioned that. Been to both, and each campus has its own wonderful qualities.
Admittedly I’m no expert - and I’ve just looked at rankings and Pitt is near the top (after Delaware) but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to go there undergrad.
I’d look at the requirements for grad school - a great GPA, test score, and active campus life should be most important.
Why don’t you call the Pitt PT school and ask though - if there’s an advantage going to Pitt vs. another solid, flagship type program.
I’m sure you’ll be fine either way.
Hi All,
I am taking Pitt tour this week. What are some of the things I should be asking. Admitted to CS at the School of Computing (SCI). I am also touring Penn State and it will be between these two. Still in two minds over which school to select. Not admitted to honors at Pitt, and have not tried applying at PSU.
Looking at the course materials, both look fine. Anyone else selecting between these two for CS/Engineering, and how did you decide? besides campus.
To commit to the honors college is there an additional step other than accepting the offer for admission? Thanks in advance.
PSU alumni network? Are you guaranteed CS at PSU?
After that I’d pick on fit. Both are solid choices. No wrong answer.
I think accepting the invite is all you have to do to get in the Honors College. However, if you want to live in the Honors College LLC in Sutherland, you have to submit additional essays (LLC stands for LIVING Learning Community, after all). You can be in the Honors College and live in the Towers or wherever. Also, you can be in the Honors College but live with another LLC, say the Business LLC or Health Sciences LLC. I highly recommend signing up for one of the First-Year Housing Zoom meetings or watching the one from a few days ago. There were tons of questions about Honors during the Q & A.
Thanks! I just watched a couple of the videos on YouTube. Very informative, especially the Q&A, as you mentioned. A Google search for “Pitt First Year Housing Session” will pop up several of them.
