Good observation! Yeh, i think my D25 is waiting on Dietrich (pre-physical therapy). So, hopefully we’ll see those trickle out soon.
Last year my non-Honors admit got a merit offer many months later.
We were Dietrich but applied SUPER early (8/2). It does seem like they are in waves by school.
Ok, yeh she applied/completed 9/10, so sounds like its in order of completion (which i think is fair). So, im sure we still have a few weeks; its getting so exciting lol, tho we’ve had no word yet!
My D25 is waiting on Dietrich, pre-allied health, applied 9/1, created a portal, 9/6 , thought we filled out SRAR but it was the wrong email initially and had to fill it out again, it never matched like it was supposed to, and she just redid it yesterday. She is beside herself thinking she messed up. PItt is her top choice, we are in state. The portal now moved to awaiting decision as of this afternoon. She has great ECs, great essays but a B+/A- gpa Two of her classmates just got in last night and today, one nursing. I hope we don’t have to wait 4 weeks from yesterday. This is stressful! Congratulations to those that got accepted!
My guy is in! The email came through last night, but he doesn’t check his gmail often. I try to check it for him every 2-3 days to clean out the junk and leave the “good stuff” for him and seeing so many people hear last night, I looked this morning and he had an email from Pitt. It was killing me to wait all day for him to get home to open the email and then check the portal.
Anyhoo, here’s our info:
Sent in his common app 8/21, but didn’t get the SRAR transmitted until 8/23; 8/26 he got the link to activate his account.
He’s applying to Arts and Sciences as a urban planning major and we’re from out of state. He’s got a 4.0 and a 35 ACT.
Also, for anyone interested, I tried to read some of the page after him and I think I saw somewhere that they would start looking at merit aid in October. So hopefully they will have some early discussions and it will only be a few weeks before some of us are hopefully hearing good news on that front.
And for folks who haven’t heard yet, my older son, when he applied to Pitt, waited and applied later (we were waiting to see if he’d get NMSF). So he applied like a month later almost and he still got in and still got really respectable merit aid, so don’t worry if you haven’t heard yet! I was so freaked out that he was missing his chance and that we’d screwed up by waiting. Don’t stress about that or have FOMO. Sending an application in later August or September or October isn’t going to keep your kid out.
Received email today at 7:22 PM that there was a status update. My D25 got into Dietrich.
Review date 8/30
Major biological sciences.
Please check your email folks. Emails are coming in today too!!
@OctoberKate , respectfully, I don’t agree with your point of not worrying if you apply in October. Things have really ramped up at Pitt in the last 3 cycles. Im not sure when your older son went through the process, but there are 2x as many applicants or more since the 2018 cycle, for example. I would never tell a student to apply to Pitt in October. I think the risk of deferral/being asked for end of semester grades greatly increases with applicants by mid to late October. Plus they start giving out merit money in October, so an October applicant is already behind in being considered for $$.
If a student is asked for first semester grades, they may not be in to Pitt and being evaluated until the 2nd week of January. And that is late at Pitt, in my opinion. They can absolutely still be admitted, but why risk it when a student has control of submitting an early application.
Earlier is better at Pitt in my opinion, even though a later application can still work out.
Ok well now i’m starting to stress out even more! I applied on 8/18, completed application on 8/20 and went under review on 8/26. How are people that applied after me getting their decisions back before.
What school? Waiting on Swanson…and applied early as well..sigh
My older son applied in 2021, so not that long ago, and since October is only six days away, it’s kind of a moot point if folks haven’t already applied, it almost is October and they can’t go back in time.
Of course earlier is better. But mostly I didn’t want readers to think that if they hadn’t done it already, they were screwed. It’s not over for them if they haven’t done it, and it’s so easy to panic and think it’s over. I was trying to give some encouragement. No, I wouldn’t advise applying in October - if it were July and still possible to apply in August or September. But if it’s September 24th and someone hasn’t applied yet, I think it’s ok to say ok, October might not be ideal, but it’s still possible and don’t give up. And that’s what I was trying to do, to encourage folks to keep trying if this is what they want.

My kid applied 8/4 and just got into the Business School today. In State .
Same, but my daughter hasnt received a decision yet either, so it may just be that college (or major). For the most part it seems that nursing, business and engineering got their decisions. What was your 1st choice major?
This happened last cycle too. Whatever they are doing, it does not mean applications get a decision strictly in the order they were submitted.
hi can you share stats for business
For those who were accepted, did your applicant portal change from Awaiting Decision to Decided or was it only via email?
Portal changed as well. Not the people soft one.
At least for us, we saw the email first, and when we went to the portal, it said decided.
Received the email that there was a status change and when we logged in it had changed from awaiting decision to decided. We had checked about 2 hours before that and it was awaiting decision so my guess is the change to the portal and the email happens around the same time.
