University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

People that got accepted so quickly- did your HS get their reports and transcript out right away? Is that how you were able to get an answer so quickly?

I was checking my daughters throughout the day and didn’t see a change until they notified her by email that night. They send their decisions between 7pm and 8pm. Thats the sweet spot. Good luck to you guys! The wait was def hard!

Yes. I will say that our school was super fast at getting the transcripts and recommendations out quickly.

We’re OOS. I don’t think our school sent anything. Pitt takes self-reported transcript, no LORs.

The status was changed on portal on 9/30. We received email for admitted students on 10/3, an invite to admitted students again today at 3:30 pm, AND admission decision email today at 4:33 pm ET lol

My son’s school sent a school profile, LORs even though Pitt doesn’t ask for it.
A week before my son got his acceptance email, his school had a college fair and he approached Pitt admission person, introduced himself, wrote down his name and spend some time chatting.

Ours was all self-reported - school hasn’t sent anything yet

D25 was accepted tonight to Dietrich, Biological Sciences. Applied 9/21, accepted 10/9. In state, 1490 SAT, 4.64 weighted GPA, lots of AP courses and well-rounded activities.

She is relieved to her first college acceptance! Now she just needs to finish a few other college apps and do some more waiting.

S25’s application went under review on 9/30. The portal just changed to Awaiting Materials. They are requesting his Mid-year senior grades. Does anyone have experience with this? He’s bummed as Pitt was top on his list, but at least its not a ā€œnoā€ just yet.

This definitely happens sometimes. Just anecdotally, in my circles at least a lot of those kids were then admitted, IF they had a good midyear report. But of course I can’t say that is always true, and in fact exactly what counts as a good midyear report probably varies with context.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The waiting continues…

Is it recommended to reach out to admissions or patiently wait? It’s been longer than 8 weeks - status has been awaiting decision.

I’d give it at least 10 weeks before politely checking to make sure they are not looking for any additional information.

I called for my daughter, to catch them during business hours for her. They were nice and will check the status for you. I dont think itll hurt. I called in about mid September, before the 4 to 6 weeks was even up lol. She did get accepted a few weeks later, so I dont think it will hurt to call.

Just start off by letting them know its your childs first choice and he/she just wants to be sure they have everything they need to double check. Worked for me

I would call or email at this point.

Could there be something missing?

It can’t hurt to call admissions and check on the application. My son checked with his admissions rep who was visiting his school and got reassured his application was okay. He ironically got accepted later that day (Engineering)
Good luck !

I emailed at 8 weeks…said everything was in and she’d hear ā€œin a few weeksā€. Why say 6-8 weeks when it’s busy season if it is going to be more than 10?

Another week gone by, and no change…

S25 got his decision at 7 PM on a Friday, so the week isn’t over yet!

Yes . Mixed blessings of having a school counselor going out on parental leave at the end of October. She has got things in FAST for my daughter!
