Another week and nothing but accumulating some good money in the jar!!
Portal changed last night. Son applied 8/4 to the school of nursing.. Test Optional, In-state, 3.78 GPA Top 25%, Mostly honors and 3 AP classes. Portal went from awaiting decision to awaiting materials. They want mid senior year grades. UGH the wait continues!
Sorry to hear this. Usually, itās awaiting materials to awaiting decision, not the other way around. Mid year grades probably wonāt be available until Jan some time. The wait continues indeed.
End of January
My Daughter has the same message.. well it is not a no. I thought she might be on the line with her GPA and test optional.
Applied to Dietrich on 10/2 for Data Science. All materials were submitted on 10/7 and I got a accepted today, so essentially one week. Hope everyone gets in and H2P!
Despite almost 6 weeks of waiting time, the wait is over. My D25 got in the School of Computing and Information. She checked the portal at 7pm and it showed ādecidedā on the bar. But the actual email came at 7:20pm. I couldnāt have done it without this group. For those who are still waiting, a + decision will await you.
Seems like the decisions have slowed down or do most people have their decisions already? We are still waiting on Swanson. Anyone else?
Off hand it felt to me like they got a delayed start this year and so started by pumping them out as fast as they could to clear up the backlog.
It now feels more like last year where, say, a given school might only release a new batch of decisions once a week or so, presumably after a committee meeting.
But weāll see.
Got it! Thank you!
10 weeks tomorrow for Nursing.
Hang in there.. We were about the same time frame.. Hopefully good news for you!
When we visited in spring an assistant administrator talked to us and explained that they usually admit strong candidates in the first go and that is about a third. Then they wait so see how will applicant pool look like and then admit more. He asked my son if he took calculus and physics. He also told us that average Swanson SAT was 1360 which is just 10 points above my sonās score. My son took advanced calculus and honors physics in junior year and now is taking differential equations, something high schoolers usually donāt take. I think that made the difference. His GPA is 3.7 uw, 4.1w, so nothing spectacular, but got admitted 9/30. Hope you hear back soon.
Has anyone been accepted into the School of Education yet? I am not sure if they started releasing decisions for these majors yet. My D25 is only 4 weeks out from submitting.
Still waiting here ⦠all materials were in by mid September (donāt know the exact date).
@happycamper47 No one is admitted into School of Ed as a freshman. You apply into Deitrich, do your general Ed requirements, and then apply into Education at the end of your sophomore year. Did your child apply to Deitrich? It seems like most people are hearing From Deitrich in 6-8 weeks. Good luck!
Another data point:
Swanson for Mechanical Engineering. 3.84 GPA (4.324 weighted). 8 APs (5,5,4,3; enrolled in 4 this year), rest Honors. ACT superscore 34. Out-of-state.
Submitted via CommonApp (plus SRAR and ACT scores) on Sat, Sept 28. Confirmed received on Tue, Oct 1. Accepted Wed, Oct 17.
Has anyone heard back yet from Dietrich for the English Writing major? I applied about a month ago and havenāt heard anything.
Applied to Dietrich (different major) Sep 24 still no word. My thought is that Dietrich may take longer because they have significantly more applicants.
D25 applied to Dietrich 9/10. Her app must have been reviewed on 10/7 bc the portal changed to reflect that they needed a personal statement (which we thought had been submitted). No word since 10/7 but the admissions counselor was at her high school today and mentioned that heās traveling the next two days so we donāt expect any decision this week
