University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

No, not yet :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Not yet here either. I believe merit letters go out on a rolling basis through March.

Sure. Business here too. My son has a good SAT (near 75% percentile) but GPA is on the lower side of past year admitted students. He has 4APs and rest honors this year.. So maybe they want to see good academic grades for midterm before deciding in his favor. Fingers crossed. Good luck to both of us.

My friend’s daughter did but we have been accepted and no merit aid yet, if there is any coming.

Thanks for sharing. My son’s GPA is on the lower end of admitted students as well. Of course being TO doesn’t help. Fingers crossed and good luck!

Was just looking at Pitt’s website with my DD today
said merit would be released from the end of October through March, and not necessarily in order of acceptance.

Good luck to those still waiting from August!! Hoping this week is it!

Definitely not. My S24 last year was among several other posted cases of getting merit offers many months after acceptance (October to March in his case).

Anyone have any idea when the new rec center is going to be finished?

Last I knew they were still saying 2024, but with no firm date.

Does the housing application open in November? Does anyone know? My daughter has not been able to find that information on the student portal.

In past years it didn’t open until the spring. Pitt does not do first come first serve housing so there is no rush to get it in early.

Did you hear anything back? I truly wonder if some apps are “lost” as I am seeing acceptances are rolling in from Sep and later and sounds like most of Aug is done but we haven’t heard. The other thread has merit awards coming in as well. It is so hard to wait at this point and remain positive. :frowning:

My daughter was accepted a month ago and just got a merit offer today.

I hated doing this, but I contacted them through the chat function today. I asked them to double check the file to make sure there was not a problem. They were very nice, said he had “priority review” due to applying so early (?!?@*!), his file was listed as “active in committee” (or something like that), and that they would guess we’d hear within two weeks. Then I asked if his applying for the guaranteed admission could be holding up the process. It sounded like, for most of their colleges, they want to make the guarantee decision before sending out the acceptance. (Not a good policy in my opinion, but nobody asked me.) So I don’t know if that’s what is holding up his application, but it seems likely. The correspondent is only given limited file access, so they have no specific knowledge about him (or can’t tell me). So
we wait.

Which GAP program did he apply to? My kid’s bff applied to the GAP PA, and heard back on general admission (nothing about GAP) this week. Friend submitted about 4 weeks ago. Sounds like your son has a stronger application than my kid’s BFF since they applied TO and has had a few B’s peppered in with mostly A’s.

Another friend (didn’t apply GAP nor Honors) heard back in 2 weeks recently.

My kid went under review 10/8 and crickets here but I guess it’s too early. Perhaps the friend who got in after 2 weeks was a one-off.

Did you or your student email to admissions?

Swanson. His friend applied early August, too, with slightly lower stats but to Dietrich. He was accepted 5ish weeks later with a guarantee for phys therapy. The correspondent told me that, if my son receives an acceptance that isn’t accompanied by a guarantee letter, then it means he didn’t get the guarantee. But I don’t know if that’s the same case for other schools. I feel like a detective.

Does merit show up in the same portal? Or is there a different page?
