Question- my son applied to Pitt c. Oct 3. No decision yet, afaict. I see many of you mentioning checking the portal - I belive when he received confirmation of his application, it said he’d get informatiom about his portal account when a decision was made, so he can’t check on the portal. Am I missing something?
Yes he can set up a portal after he applies

I believe the portal has nothing to do with the decision. The portal where in you can see the status of things should be open as soon as he applies.

My son was accepted last night to the business school. His application went under review on 9/11 so it took about 7 weeks.

D25 was accepted 11/1, applied 10/13 Mechanical Engineering, in state, 3.8 (weighted).

Congratulations to your daughter. My S25 is also waiting for Mechanical Eng..OOS applied 9/30. 3.7 weighted GPA with good curriculum rigor (mostly honors and AP’s) and SAT 1450. It seems most acceptances for Engineering were GPA’s above 4 and so we are bit worried about the outcome. So your post helps to keep the hope. Was your daughter test optional if I may ask?

Honestly her GPA is why I posted as I always see such high GPAs, wanted to give some hope 
Yes to test optional and her school’s rigor is also high; her 9th grade wasn’t great so upward progression could also have helped since they used SRAR if I remember correctly. Good luck to your son! Maybe it’s the IS vs OOS that made hers go quicker?

Thank you.. My son’s trajectory is similar- 9th grade bottom with upward trajectory and 3AP exams- two 5’s (though Bs in actual class) and one 4. Fingers crossed. Probably, for OOS it might be slightly more difficult.

Just another example for you - my S25 was admitted to Mechanical Engineering with a 3.8W GPA. He did submit a 35 ACT and is on an accelerated Math track but had a C on his transcript Sophomore year.

Another example: S25 admitted, OOS, TO, with a 3.7w GPA and an upward track (4.0w GPA junior year), a couple of Cs in math freshman and sophomore years. Major is poli sci which is probably makes it a bit easier, but still.

Looking for advice. We still haven’t heard back - applied super early in Aug. Most recent inquiry said it was in review and nothing was missing and would hear back by end of week (this was two weeks ago). Should we continue to wait patiently or inquire again? Anyone else still waiting from early August? Stats are similar or higher than those who have been accepted.

Have your child call again. Let them know that was what you heard and tell them you are happy to wait but you are concerned there is something wrong.

S25 just got accepted to Swanson school - Mech Eng. Applied on 9/30, application completed on 10/3. Thanks to members here who shared their stats and gave confidence to us. Good luck to all.
