University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

In that case, yes. They put on a good show and the students are bright, friendly, and enthusiastic. And Oakland is worth seeing. It is a great place to live for 4 years, which is evident during a visit. Though it’s not a “campus” school, there is a lot of green space around the Cathedral and in Schenley Park, which is 2 blocks away. Also the museums are right there as well.

I found the honors reception links on their page, we never got the email they said we should receive. It took my daughter to her login page but then let her sign up. HTH

Also, in case your student isn’t aware (like us!), there is an instagram page for admitted students, Pitt2029class.

I am sorry - I was hoping someone would get good news .

My kid wouid rather a waitlist - she is embarrassed and I wish I could change it for it for her - life is bot always how we plan :face_holding_back_tears:.

It’s tough for the kids.. they become too attached to a college for reasons known only to them.. My kid was so attached to Pitt first but after mid year grade report request, latched on to Penn State (admitted DUS). He is admitted to Rutgers Business school but for some reason did not like it (though I was all over it) and was almost ready to commit to PSU after being waitlisted at Pitt. Today he got accepted to Virginia Tech Business school and it opened his eyes and he has now moved on from PSU! Probably, when May 1 commit dates become closer, they will see the reality of equally good opportunities and take it to their liking. As a parent, cost and closeness with a decent school is all we care about!

She was waitlisted at VT too - she just applied to UofD and another school as last minute options . We will see . I am regretting not spending the money on a college counselor now -

I am glad he has other options . She won’t consider PSU - at all .

I just pulled up the 2024-2025 Common Data Set for the Pittsburgh Campus Common Data Set | Office of Institutional Research Under the Waiting List section is shows that 4,338 students accepted a place on the wait list and 3,754 of those students were admitted. That means ~87% of those on the wait list were eventually admitted. That is much higher than I expected. I know it can vary drastically year to year so I won’t get my hopes up, but it does give some hope for those waitlisted.

That should say early March — sorry!!!

My son was waitlisted for the Honors College. Received merit and was interviewed (but not selected) for Stamps. We are assuming students wouldn’t be accepted from the waitlist until after decision day? Thoughts on reaching out to the Honors College to ask? Trying to determine if we should attend admitted students day in April (we’d be flying).

Some students have received notification of Financial Aid package to review from Pitt. My daughter has not yet received that email or info, but we can see her merit award and the standard $5,500 loan in her Pitt PeopleSoft system but no breakdown of costs. We are full pay and won’t receive any additional $ awards. For those that received their Financial Aid letter from Pitt does it include 25-26 projected tuition costs and housing costs? Pitt’s housing estimate is $18,800 but includes miscellaneous expenses; transportation, books so we’re looking for the actual room/board alone costs to be billed for 25-26 which seems like it should be closer to $15,500 ballpark.

We received the notification, but no breakdown from what I can see. Only the aid package.

@collegeboundin25 This was in the email that we received before applying the (very small) grant. S25 did not get any merit aid, even though he has high stats. He applied in October, so it wasn’t that he was too late for merit. Unfortunately this makes Pitt his most expensive acceptance. The email does qualify the graphic below as “estimated.”

Thank you! This is super helpful and the $15,348 housing/meals is exactly the figure I was looking for the compare Pitt’s COA to other schools. Is your son an engineering, CIS or nursing major and OOS? as I see his tuition/fees is 48K and I know certain majors are higher tuition rate?
