My D26 got accepted tonight to Swanson School of Engineering. Completed full application on 8/25, so it took nearly 6 weeks. She is OOS. 3.92UW/ 4.39W. APs and Dual Enrollments in mostly Math & Sciences. Strong ECs and an essay that captured her personality.
I’ve followed this account for several weeks and I’ve really appreciated everyone’s posts. So, I created an account and have shared her stats to pay it forward. What a roller coaster ride!
My kid was accepted to Swanson last night. We are out of state. Application completed 9/22. Very strong essay, 18 dual enrollment classes, test optional, 3.65 gpa. Thrilled that is was so fast! And wishing all those waiting luck.
Accepted last night (10/2). Submitted application 9/2, marked as received on 9/4, STARS received 9/10. 3.96/4.0 weighted GPA. Lots of EC. No test scores.
My D26 submitted her application a couple weeks ago, but she ran into some trouble with STARS, so that finally got finished yesterday. Oy.
Pitt is an outlier for her – not much like the other schools on her list, but she is intrigued by the program and by the location. Her stats are decent, so we’ll see.
Since it seems late in the game, do we think 8+ weeks to hear back?
Time to hear back can vary a lot. It can be fast or slow, and this doesn’t necessarily reflect on how strong the application is. As long as everything has been received, just be patient. Good luck!
Based on all the responses here so far and from last year’s thread, there’s no real rhyme or reason to how long it takes to find out. Some people find out very quickly, others take the full 8 weeks, but there doesn’t seem to be any variable that makes it more or less likely that you’ll receive a quick response. My daughter applied to Dietrich on 9/18. She has strong stats, but we’re nonetheless prepared to wait until at least the end of October, though it would be nice to hear something sooner.
My daughter got admitted to the Nursing program tonight- Pittsburgh campus, OOS, 4.52 GPA, test optional. Does this mean direct admit? She only got the admittance letter. Wasen’t sure if there is another letter to indicate direct admit.
My D was admitted today to Swanson (Bioengineering) + Engineering GAP.
She is OOS (CA), 3.98 UW GPA, 1520 SAT, total of 9 APs.
Application was complete 8/28.
Good luck to all who are waiting!
Has anyone heard about merit? DC’s acceptance letter said the scholarship committee starts to meet in October and reviews applications weekly, so we are hopeful to hear something soon.
Does anyone know when the Frederick Honors College acceptances come out, since im trying to decide to go to Pitt if I receive financial aid but back to @tamagotchi’s point, they start coming out oct 15th.
Normally I would look in past years’ threads for this. However, I think it is possible that the Honors College decision process might be different this year, since there is no longer a separate essay.
I think we’ll just have to wait and see when Honors decisions start coming out.
Merit scholarships typically start coming out in mid October and continue trickling out through most of the season, but I do not know when need-based financial aid packages show up.
My son who was admitted mid September for business received an email today listing next steps, including checking the portal often for honors college and scholarship updates so I’m hoping that means we here soon
